I have danced since I was three years old. I started in ballet, which I did for 12 years. During those 12 years I also practiced tap, jazz, lyrical, and ballroom. Currently, I like to occasionally dabble in social Latin dance and belly dance.
Dancing and music feed my soul, and I think most dancers who are passionate about the art would probably tell you the same thing. The passion is there whether you're performing in front of a large audience after months of practice, performing in your studio alone after hours, or performing in front of your bedroom mirror as you get ready for a night out.
There is just something about dance that feels good. Over my time as a dancer, I've learned that many of us share common quirks that normal people don't possess.
You know you're a ballet dancer if...
1. You unconsciously turn your feet out while walking.
2. You can do a perfect bun in under two seconds without bobby pins or hairnets. Or hairspray.
3. When people ask if you can hand sew, you just roll your eyes and think back to all of those pointe shoe ribbons you spent hours on.
4. You've gotten lazy on at least one Halloween and just pulled out an old tutu from last year's recital to dress up as a ballerina.
5. You've seen every dance movie ever, and you've probably done a dance to at least one song from their soundtracks.
6. You can do calf raises for dayzzzz.
(longer than this guy can)
