10 Things Aerie Customers Don't Understand

Aerie was always my favorite store, but now that I work there, here's what I want customers to know.

Ever since I was young, my dream store was Aerie. I know most girls may have preferred Victoria's Secret, but Aerie was and still is, my kinda place. It made growing up a little more fun when I got to pick out cute bras and undies as I kept growing. It was even my goal to be an Aerie employee. Now that I am an official #AerieGirl, I've developed a new respect for all my Aerie girls and only wish my amazing customers could understand some things from an employee side.

1. Bra fittings: No pushup bras or sports bras

Some girls do not come into the mall with the intention of being measured and can't help what bra they have on. However, if you know you need to be measured, please try to avoid these two bras. Otherwise, my job of determining your bra size becomes a guessing game.

2. No, I do not own every bra.

Just like my customers, I have a preference of what type of bras I like. I try my best to tell you how it will fit on you based on your bra size, but I highly encourage trying them on to see for yourself!

3. Be gentle to the undies!

Our undie piles are perfectly aligned and straightened every night and throughout the day to look as best they can. Each pile takes 1-2 minutes to fix and given that there are at least 40 piles of undies on each table, it takes a lot of tender love and care. I simply ask that if you need help finding a size, ask! Or if you just need some new undies and already know your size, try to wiggle them out instead of ripping them out.

4. Rewards cards are NOT credit cards.

The first question I ask every customer who I ring up is if they have a rewards card with us? Please do not shut me down thinking it is a credit card. I am only trying to help! It sends you coupons, gives you a birthday coupon off your whole purchase, can earn you a free bra or undie, and allows us to give you free shipping in stores!

5. We NEVER encourage you to buy something we don't like ourselves.

As new things come out, we get the opportunity to try them out. We will always be upfront about whether we liked something or not. That is the point of trying it out for ourselves when it first comes in so we can give you our own testimony.

6. I'm a bra expert, not a jean expert.

Even though Aerie is owned by American Eagle, I know nothing about jeans. I signed up to be an Aerie girl so bras and undies are all I know working in Aerie.

7. Yes, only five items in the dressing room.

I promise I am not trying to prevent you from trying on all of the cute new stuff. But, it is policy to only have five items at once! Also, there is bound to be at least one item out of all 20 that you won't like and it ill give us time to put it back gradually, instead of all at once.

8. Dance parties and silly selfies are a thing.

Aerie girls are the realest girls you will ever meet! We all get along and when there are more than one of us scheduled to work that day, you bet it is a party!

9. My coworkers are my friends.

You would think there would be a lot of cattiness going on with a bunch of female employees, but there is not! We go on adventures and late night Waffle House runs all the time!

10. Our goal is to make you feel like our friend as well!

No better experience is there in retail than when you and the customer are both real with one another. We love to help and make you feel at home in our store while also getting to know you and trying to better help you. It is a whole bunch of girls, we love to talk, duh!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
