10 Things About A Bro-Chick And Her Bros
Keri Rogers

I am a bro-chick. I have a lot of guy friends that I hang out with. I can count on these guys for multiple things, and know they will always be like brothers to me till the end.

Bro-chick: A chick who is basically like one of the dudes, similar to tomboy status, but less manly. One who hangs out and does dude-ly things, but knows her limits. Not to be confused with bro-ho, a bro-chick is a girl who will sit back, drink beer, play videogames and football with you, and still spend 5 hours doing her hair and makeup. (Definition by Urban Dictionary)

1. No drama between you and your bros.

They don't deal with drama. Yes, they let you rant and rave about whatever is bothering you. They will listen to you but won't spread what you said to others. Finally when you're done, they will probably make fun of you for being such a girl, but reassure you it'll all be OK. Even better they will probably come up with an idea to distract you from your problems.

2. You give each other advice about the opposite sex.

Really though, who is the best at giving you advice on how a dude's mind works than a dude himself, and vise versa. They can always tell you what that guy really means when he texts you randomly. You can also tell them what that girl meant when she said "I'm fine." Plus you can discuss other relationship topics.

3. You're the best wing woman out there.

Going along with #2. Sometimes the most effective wing person out there is the bro-chick. How many times has your wing man let you down? Maybe you need to find a wing woman to really get that girl you spotted at the bar. Bar-girl will likely be more willing to make small talk with a friendly girl face than a dude. Plus your wing woman will have a better idea of what bar-girl wants in a guy and can talk you up in all the right ways.

4. You're comfortable around each other.

A great thing about having such a close relationship with your bros is how comfortable you are around each other. That means either of you will let out burps and farts that you would usually hold in around the opposite sex. Plus a bro-chick will devour food in front of the bros without caring about being "lady-like." Sometimes, you'll see a Qdoba burrito be wolfed down faster than ever before with a bro-chick.

5. Will always have a good time hanging out.

Either you're going for ice cream, watching football, or a movie, you can always count on having a good time with your bros.

6. You tease each other.

You tease but not in the flirty way as some would assume. This is a type of tease you would tease your brother or sister about. They are practically your family and of course you have to give them hell about their embarrassing moments.

7. You talk and play sports together.

Me and my bros, we talk sports together, (because yes I do know the difference between basketball and football). This opens up all sorts of conversation starters. This also means you can play on co-ed intramural sports teams together, and be in the same fantasy football league too.

8. They can say and do gross things around you without you getting completely upset about it.

Yes boys are gross. You'll learn things about guys you have never wanted to know in your life...but you'll learn about things you were always secretly curious about too. They know you are a bro-chick and won't keep their usual filter on around you.

9. You will always have them to lift and reach stuff for you.

My bros are all taller and stronger than I am. So it is nice to have them around to lift heavy objects that I can't carry myself. Even nicer, when I can't reach the top of the shelf and they easily can. They are a personal moving team, and if you feed them, they will come back. However, they will use these two things against you when teasing or playing sports.

10. You always have each other's back.

Most importantly your bros will always be someone you can count on no matter your situation. They basically are your brothers, so they are going to watch out for you all the time.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
