10 Things All '90s Kids Miss About Their Childhood

Kids these days seem to have it all: phones, tablets, computers and even hover boards. You name it, the kids of today have it, as technology continues to grow and develop. But if you’re a '90s kid like me, you say forget being a kid in today’s world—you’d give anything to travel back in time just to grow up again in the '90s. Those were the days of gold, and I wish my kids could be lucky enough to be '90s kids. Here is a list of 10 things all '90s kids miss from their childhood.

1. The "Lite Brite" toy

This toy was always a fun one to bring out for holidays and birthdays, and it allowed you to create anything you wanted. It made you feel like you could be artistic, even though all you had to do was stick the little lights in the designated spots on the paper. Still, when you finished and you had a snowman or Mr. Potato head, you couldn’t help but feel a little accomplished.

2. Flintstone's Chewable Vitamins

In the '90s, if you didn’t take your Flintstone's chewable vitamin every morning, you were setting yourself up for a bad day. These were crunchy and yummy: an essential supplement for all the cool kids of the age.

3. Razor Scooters

Anybody who was anybody back in the day could be seen zipping around the neighborhood on a Razor scooter. Mastering the bunny hop on these bad boys was almost a rite of passage. You always had to be careful though: one wrong turn and the bottom of the scooter would swing around and destroy your ankles- '90s kids know this pain all too well.

4. The Disney Channel

The Disney Channel might just be the most loved thing ever to come out of the '90s. With shows like “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” and “Hannah Montana,” and movies like “Motocrossed,” “The Cheetah Girls,” and “Now You See It,” it’d be impossible to keep the Disney Channel off this list.

5. "Spyro the Dragon" and "Crash Bandicoot"

Like yesterday’s “Call of Duty,” "Spyro the Dragon" and "Crash Bandicoot" were the kinds of video games you would stay up late and wake up early to play. Most '90s kids probably don’t want to ever know how much time they actually spent playing these games—it would be embarrassing.

6. The Easy Bake Oven

The Easy Bake Oven was an essential for all young girls to have to bake delicious, yummy treats. Mine never turned out cute and perfect like the goodies in the commercial, but you can bet I had an awesome time cooking with my very own oven. Enough of the guys of the '90s couldn’t resist the smell of a bakery that came with the ovens.

7. Dinosaur Eggs Oatmeal and the Twist-off Juice Drinks

It’s sad to think the future and current generations grew up without dinosaur eggs oatmeal and those twist-off juice drinks we would buy in 6-packs as a kid. When mom brought the groceries home, these two items were the only things you made sure she bought.

8. The Nintendo Game Boy and Nintendo DS

The iPods, Apps and Xboxes of our time, most '90s kids wouldn’t leave home without grabbing their Nintendo Game Boy to bring with them first. Whether you played "Nintendogs" on your Nintendo DS, or "Super Smash Bros" on your Gameboy, there was always something for everyone to play.

9. Pokémon Cards

Whether you were a girl or boy, a young or older kid, you had a giant stack of Pokémon cards somewhere in your room. In the long run, your parents probably spent a fortune buying all these things for you in your pursuit of the super rare first edition Charizard card. But at the time, no amount of money in the world could get you to part with Pikachu.

10. Moon Shoes

Moon Shoes. Do I even need to say more?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
