Freshman year at college is one of the most exciting things. You don't have mom and dad telling you what to do or when to do it. All the new friends you could want live right down the hall from you. You make your own schedule. You get to experience life in every and any way you want! Looking back there's a few things I wish someone told me.

1. You are going to hate your 8am.

I know high school started at 7:20 and it was easy to get up and look 100% every day...but you are going to hate yourself on Friday morning. The only way not to hate yourself on Friday morning is by abstaining from Thirsty Thursday, and lets face it that might happen once...twice if you're lucky.

2. Go to class

Yes, attendance is not always mandatory, but the professors notice you when you show up. Plus it helps a lot when test time comes around. Plus, if the professor knows you, sometimes they'll bump your grade.

3. Go to every free event

There are tons of free events on campus every week. Drag your roommate and go! Maybe it'll suck, but you might get a free shirt. Most of the time there's even free food!

4. Don't waste all your flex

Sure pizza is great for dinner, but you're going to want that pizza more at the end of the semester. Go to the dinning hall and make friends.

5. Go to the gym

The freshman 15 is real...and every year after that you'll gain more. So if you want that pizza then go to the gym.

6. Call your parents.

They miss you more than you think. Plus they'll be more willing to give you money when you run out if you call them on a regular basis.

7. Be nice to your roommate.

You don't have to be friends, but you do have to live together. So, be nice otherwise it will be a much longer year than it needs to be.

8. Get involved.

You don't have to sign up for every single club. Just find a couple that you really enjoy and make friends. It'll help you keep your sanity when classes and friends are driving you insane.

9. Take pictures.

You'll want them. These are the memories you'll hold dear for a long time, so have something to look back on.

10. As my dad told me, "Experience life!"

Do everything you want, and everything you don't. Don't stay in your room all day. Get out there and have fun! These are the best years of your life, enjoy them!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
