10 Thing to Know Before Coming To LSU
Best Colleges Online

1) The entirety of "Callin' Baton Rouge" by Garth Brooks

And at least the chorus of "From Louisiana" and "Louisiana Saturday Night". No matter what bar or tailgate you go to, you'll hear all of these at least twice throughout your time there.

2) It's a marathon, not a sprint

SEC tailgating is like nothing you've ever experienced before, I'm just going to leave it at that.

3) Death Valley is louder than you'd expect

Sure everyone has told you this, but nobody can prepare you for the roar of that first home game.

4) The alma mater is law

No matter where you're from or where you're headed, you always grab whoever is next to you and sing the alma mater with your tiger family every football game. Sure, nobody gets the words right even though they're on the screen in front of us, but it is a beautiful bonding moment nonetheless.

5) LSU parking is no joke

PARK WHERE YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO. Take it from someone who's been ticketed and towed for the smallest things, just follow the rules.

6) Outtakes/ Take 5

These are the best part of having a meal plan, its like having a super CVS within walking distance of your dorm, but the CVS has sushi, pizza and mozzarella sticks.

7) There is a Starbucks in the design building

LSU's best kept secret, and this one takes Starbucks gift cards, you're welcome.

8) The McDonald's in the Union is always serving ice cream

No really, throughout my time here their machine has never been broken. Yeah, a McDonald's where the ice cream machine always works. You read that right.

9) During exams there are stress dogs in Middleton Library

Honestly thats enough of a reason to love LSU I don't even need to say anything else.

10) LSU is Home

We're all tigers through and through, and nobody can take that away from us. Everyone here has purple and gold running through their veins and is going to welcome you into our community with as much love as they have to offer. This campus is our home, and we can't wait for it to be yours too.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

Obsessive Thoughts Keep My Brain Stuck On A Loop And Me Stuck On My Couch

Sometimes my brain just starts turning on an idea and it doesn't want to stop.

I don't know if it is related to my anxiety, perfectionism or depression. I don't know why it happens. It's frustrating, it's painful and it stops me from functioning.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.
