As a college student, I don’t think I’ve been this perpetually poor since I bought my Game Boy Advanced 10 years ago. And after a summer of living on my own, no dining hall included, my wallet really felt the burn—a stinging, 3rd degree, need-medical-attention-now burn. It was time to get real, and instead of begging my mom for account transfers every other day, I instead looked to see where I could save money. Here are 10 of the most useful student discounts this side of the mountain of college debt:

1) Amazon Prime Student

There are no ends to Prime’s glory. You want toilet paper in

two days? You got it. You want to watch Sex and The City until the sunrise? You got it. For $50 rather than $100, you can reap all the benefits Amazon has to offer.

2) UNiDays

Sign up for UNiDays and you enter a world of hundreds of discounts—Apple, ASOS, Missguided, Express and so on—the sign up is free, and so are the smiles when you see all the money that can go toward Arbor Mist rather than a new interview outfit.

3) Sam's Club Student Discount

Go in with a few friends, and get more Tide Pods than you’ll ever need. Also, if you don’t feel like making the plunge yet know your parents have a card, you can use theirs temporarily (for free) while in store.

4) Adobe

Act now and you can get it for $15.99 (s/o to Black Friday) or wait and get it for $19.99. Either way, you are saving stacks on stacks from the regular price of $39.99.

5) Madewell

When buying a scarf can cost you $50 dollars, a 15% discount can mean the difference between a ridiculous and somewhat-justified purchase.

6) Kate Spade

Another 15%, another dollar. Go ahead get the phone case AND the planner.

7) Spotify Premium

Half price for one of the greatest luxuries there ever was—to skip through as many songs as you want without having to listen to ad for Strayer University.

8) Hulu

Although they technically don’t have a discount, you can have a month trial and suspend billing for up to three months—not too bad when your bank is sending you insufficient fund texts.

9) Chipotle

Get a free drink with your student ID, so at least you don’t have feel bad when you fill up a water cup with lemonade.

10) The New Yorker

Educate yourself and look worldly by paying six dollars for 12 weeks’ worth of the best writing and cartoons known to man.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
