Those first few minutes of opening your eyes in the morning are way more crucial than we have ever realized. Playing just the right song can make the day that much better or even fix a day that you might know already will not be great. So give it a try - we have all heard about the power of music, no? Here are the 10 best songs to wake up to in the morning. Happy days, friends!

  1. September by Earth, Wind & Fire: This one has some nice vibes. It's upbeat but not too wild to shock you as you are just trying to wake up. I have listened to this one a lot. Still not sure what the words are for the most part but it has some nice parts you can sing that are not words at all. Sounds like a win.
  2. Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go by Wham!: Just such a high quality song with such a hip-bopping rhythm. I could honestly listen to this any time of the day.
  3. Come On Eileen by Dexys Midnight Runners: Who knows what those words are or what they mean? That mean you don’t have to think about it while you’re getting ready. Still a sure fire way to start a great day.
  4. Sugar by Maroon 5: Wow, nothing like Adam Levine saying good morning to you in the sweetest song in the world. Yes please.
  5. P.Y.T by Michael Jackson: Who doesn’t need to be reminded that they are a pretty young thing in the morning? So catchy for sure to be stuck in your head all day reminding you just how young and excellent you really are. Michael knew that, why shouldn’t we?
  6. PREFACE: only if you want to start your day feeling exactly like you think Snoop Dog probably feels everyday: The Next Episode by Dr. Dre: No judgment, some days you just need to wake up and feel like you and your bad self. Yeah that probably sounds cheesy, but it has to be YOUR day if you wake up to Dr. Dre and Snoop telling you to disregard the world and just do you.
  7. Take On Me by a-ha: Honestly when I wake up and put on this song I feel a little like I am in the Breakfast Club or Sixteen Candles. If that’s the vibe you are going for then hit it up.
  8. Dog Days Are Over by Florence + The Machine: If you are looking to wake up on a drowsy weekend day and know you have to get up eventually but it’s not urgent. 10/10 would recommend.
  9. You’re My Best Friend by Queen:

“Ooh, you make me live

Whatever this world can give to me

It's you, you're all I see

Ooh, you make me live now honey

Ooh, you make me live “

Wow that first verse- that’s all you need to hear in the morning.

Also really though, you could listen to most Queen songs- Killer Queen, We Are The Champions, Somebody To Love? SO much it almost blows my mind.

10. December, 1963 by Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons: Yes this song has potential to be heard in the late night vibes of a frat basement. Also, yes this song can be listened to in almost any circumstance. In the morning it does wonders, even though it is, ironic about the night.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
