1. 3rd of July celebration.

Moorpark’s annual “3rd of July” celebrations are something that give Moorpark some of its unique charm. The fireworks are always an enjoyable sight

2. America’s Teaching Zoo.

Open every weekend, America’s Teaching Zoo is tons of fun for all ages, with a large variety of animal exhibits, featuring many exotic species!

3. Starbucks.

Running late for work but need your coffee fix and the Starbuck on New LA Avenue is too crowded? Thankfully, there are plenty of other Starbucks locations in Moorpark that you can visit!

4. Abundance of parks.

When was the last time you thought to yourself, “I really need to get out of the house, just be outside for a while…” Luckily, Moorpark has 19 parks! Whether you want to play basketball or tennis, walk your dog or just lay in the grass and read a book, you can be thankful that there is no shortage of places to do things like this!

5. Rolling Pin is within driving distance.

Rolling Pin- the best donuts around. The fact that it is within driving distance from Moorpark is certainly something to be thankful for! PS: Try the Chocolate Chip Roll, Tiger Tail and the Cronut (you won’t regret it).

6. Moorpark College.

In an article posted in May 2015, Huffington Post ranked Moorpark college as the fourth best community college in the country! According to this article, “graduates make 41.3 percent more than their college costs on average in their first year on the job.” The fact that this school is local and provides such high-quality education is something to be thankful for!

7. In-N-Out.


While the popular hamburger chain has establishments all over Southern California, it’s something to be thankful for that even in a small town like Moorpark, there is an In-N-Out.

8. Plenty of schools.

Growing up, you go through a variety of schools. In the Moorpark Unified School District, there are six elementary schools, two middle schools, and three high schools to choose from.

9. High Street Arts Center.

For any fine arts enthusiast, the High Street Arts Center offers plays, musicals and concerts year-round for entertainment.

10. Underwood Family Farms.


Underwood Family Farms is a great place to go no matter what season! Berry picking and visiting the pumpkin patch are particular highlights of this fun, family-friendly farm!

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
