10 Texts You Have Sent To Your Mom About Missing Your Puppy At College

It's true when they say that your dog becomes you best friend, they also don't warn you for college when your best friend is not allowed to live with you anymore. All of a sudden, your cuddle buddy after a long day, the one who always comforts you without saying anything and the one you can vent to and they will just tilt their little head back and forth like they care is miles away from you. The only good thing is getting to go back home and seeing how crazy they go when they realize who is walking through that front door. My poor mom has been a trooper with updating me and sending me pictures, but sometimes that just is not good enough. These are texts that I have sent to my mom about missing my puppy in college.

1. "She still loves me more than you."

Even though I am miles away from her, I know in the back of her little puppy mind I am always going to be her favorite.

2. "FaceTime me, but only so I can see my puppy."

I normally call to "check-in" with my parents, let them know their daughter is doing just fine at college. But what they don't know is I am really only calling to see my sweet puppy who can not quite figure out where that familiar voice is coming from.

3. "Send me a picture of my best friend."

I need daily updates on how my best friend is doing of course!

4. "I saw a dog on campus today, and our puppy is so much cuter"

Because let's be honest, no dog will ever be cuter than your own. I try to stay away from dogs around campus because it normally brings back those extra tears of missing mine.

5. "Give her an extra treat today and tell her it is from me."

A treat a day, keeps the vet away... or two... or three. Slip her an extra one for me please Mom, they are her favorite.

6. "I looked a picture of my puppy today and cried my eyes out because she is not here."

My dog used to be my background, until I realized just how much I missed her and I had to change it. Now I scroll through my camera roll and the tears just start flowing.

7. "Tell my puppy I am coming home today to see her."

My FAVORITE text to send to my Mom! I know that when she hears my name she will go to my door thinking I am in there and when I walk through that door later that night she will go crazy over seeing me.

8. "When I get home she is sleeping with me not you."

The constant battle of who she was going to sleep with, but when I come home it is a no brainer who she will be cuddling up next to all night.

9. "I heard you were coming to visit me this weekend, bring my puppy with you."

Hey Mom I heard you were coming this weekend, yeah I would love to see you but you better have my puppy with you or else.

10. "Make sure you tell my puppy how much I love and miss her."

I can't tell her enough how much I love and miss her, so make sure you do this for me please.

XOXO

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
