A year ago when I first started out college, there was a lot about it that I did not know about. It would have been helpful if somebody would have told me the things that none really talk about. Here is 10 things nobody ever tells you about college, even though there are so many more.

1. You are going to be tired... ALL THE TIME!

You could literally nap all day and still be tired. With piles of homework, unimaginable stress, and early morning classes, chances are you are always ready for a nap. Not to mention, you will have to stay up late most nights, which will put a tear on your emotions.

2. You will miss home

As obvious as it might be, nobody tells you that you will get homesick. But you will. You will miss the small things about home like the home-cooked meals, or the way your parents hug you. But homesickness doesn't last forever, so just let yourself feel. Just know you will miss your hometown, so enjoy it while you can!

3. The food is not very good

As sad as it is, the food that will be served in the cafeteria is not very good. Which sucks due to the amount of money you are paying. But even though you will skip meals, the freshman 15 will still happen, due to stress. Just stock your dorm up with some healthy snacks, and that will help.

4. You will actually enjoy most of your classes

Unlike high school, the classes will actually be a lot more interesting. And that's because you get to actually study what you want to! Professors are great, and classes are also cut short a lot of the time, which is nice. Summer will be nice, for about a month. But then the countdown starts again to the first day of the next school year.

5. No matter what anyone tells you, don't take an 8 am

Classes before 9:00 are sent from the devil. Your high school might've started at that time, so you might think you can handle it. But with late nights and a lot of responsibilities, you most likely will want a few days to sleep in. If you are going to choose an 8:00 class, make sure it is only one or two days a week.

6. Parties aren't everything

If you do not see an interest in partying, don't worry because you are not alone. I was worried that everyone would just want to party all the time, but that certainly isn't the case. Parties may be fun, but there is a lot of other fun things to do with friends on campus, I promise.

7. Sign up for a lot during the first couple weeks

The transition to college can be rough. But it helps to be involved and not feel alone. You will meet a lot of people through the different campus organizations.

8. You don't need to pack all those clothes!

Chances are, you're going to want to overpack. But make sure you try to only bring clothes you actually wear. I promise you won't need your entire closet.

9. You will lose most of your high school friends

It sucks to lose friends, but you will meet some life-long friends in college. They will be the truest friends you have ever had. The truth is that life is busy and you can't possibly stay in contact with everyone.

10. You are going to have the time of your life

College is an amazing experience. You are going to have some of the greatest nights of your life and you will meet extraordinary people from different places in the world. Enjoy it with everything you have, because college truly is the best years of your life.

Relax and enjoy the rest of summer. I promise college is not scary. it is so eye-opening and exciting. You will love it!

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
