We all know it's true that being from the south is a completely different world at times.

1. You know at least one person who sounds like they came out of 'Gone With the Wind'.

It's all about the accent!

2. People are always asking where you are from because of your accent.

The accent gives off that we aren't from the typical cities. Everyone has to try and figure out where we are from. It's like a guessing game!

3. You think that butter, bacon and sweet tea are the Holy Grail.

4. 'Y'all' is the only way to address two or more people.

5. You're are always hearing "Don't call me ma'am/sir, it makes me feel old".

We were raised to always say 'yes ma'am' and 'no ma'am' and it drives people that weren't raised the same way insane. Some people even think of it as an insult, but we promise it isn't meant to be.

6. "Bless your heart" is the best way to insult someone when you aren't wanting to curse.

7."Coke" refers to any kind of soda.

No matter where you go, you always refer to soda as Coke. Then you get the question of regular or diet, and then it gets to be a little confusing for those that don't understand.

8. Wearing white after Labor Day is a big no no.

Just leave it at this, some people would consider this a sin. You just don't do it.

9. You are always looking forward to "Mud-bug" season.

Crawfish season is the best season, and we are always hoping it comes early.

10. You will always love the south, and you will always call it home.

Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
