I am what you’d call a die-hard “swiftie.” I live for Taylor Swift’s new albums, posts, and even candid photos of her or her two super adorable cats. Taylor is definitely one of the best songwriters of our generation, producing her albums typically by herself or with the help of only a few others. The average radio-listening fan might not realize how amazing, inspiring, and relatable some of her lyrics are. If you haven’t listened to every album on repeat, you’ve most likely been missing out on some of these hidden treasures. Here are the top 10 Taylor Swift lyrics (in my opinion) ranked.

10. ‘The Way I Loved You’ Fearless

“I miss screaming and fighting and kissing in the rain, it’s 2 a.m. and I’m cursing your name. So in love that I acted insane, and that’s the way I loved you.”

Ever been with someone that makes you crazy and the rush you get when you’re with them is intoxicating? Taylor has, and she knows you have been too. This song is about a seemingly perfect relationship that’s overshadowed by a thrilling and exciting love. It’s the kind that you know isn’t right for you but you can’t stay away from.

9. ‘New Year’s Day’ reputation

“I want your midnights, but I’ll be cleaning up bottles with you on New Year’s Day.”

The simplicity of this lyric and song as a whole says so much. It’s a way of saying, “I’ll stay with you through the good and the bad, the sparkly times and the times when it’s hard.” I think this lyric shows Tay’s growth in all the best ways.

8. ‘Don’t Blame Me’ reputation

“Don’t blame me, love made me crazy, if it doesn’t you ain’t doing it right. Lord, save me, my drug is my baby I’ll be usin’ for the rest of my life.”

This is one of Taylor’s newest songs and I am TOTALLY here for it. She takes a darker turn with this one but somehow the lyrics are still completely flattering and lovey-dovey. Women always get the bad rap of being the crazy ones but sometimes it’s the man that makes them that way! P.S. This lyric is so much better when you’re listening, so go check it out!

7. ‘Innocent’ Speak Now

“Time turns flames to embers, you’ll have new Septembers. Every one of us has messed up too. Minds change like the weather, I hope you remember, today is never too late to be brand new.”

Okay, so everyone knows this song is about the infamous Kanye incident, but it’s actually full of beautiful and forgiving lyrics. It reminds us that one mistake doesn’t define you, and you can always be better than you were before. I love how personal this lyric feels as well as being super relatable. We should all try to remember this from time to time.

6. ‘Stay Beautiful’ Taylor Swift

“You’re beautiful, every little piece, love; don’t you know? You’re really gonna be someone, ask anyone. And when you find everything you’ve looked for, I hope your love leads you back to my door. Oh, but if it don’t, stay beautiful.”

Ah, this song is just one of the many masterpieces off Tay’s debut album. These lyrics are so innocent. This song is “if you love something, set it free,” on steroids. I also love that it promotes the message of staying true to yourself and not letting that big and scary world out there change who you are. Stay beautiful!

5. ‘You Are In Love’ 1989

“One night, he wakes, strange look on his face. Pauses, then says ‘you’re my best friend.’ And you knew what it was, he is in love.”

I’m obsessed with this lyric! When 1989 was released, this bad boy was only available on the Target deluxe CD, but lucky you! It’s now available on iTunes for your listening enjoyment! It captures the essence of all those little, intimate moments with the person you love that really mean the most. The entire song is a collection of those little moments, and you should definitely give it a listen if you’re feeling super sappy and need that feeling of watching a romantic comedy with only about five minutes to spare.

4. ‘The Moment I Knew’ Red

“And it was like slow motion, standing there in my party dress. In red lipstick, with no one to impress. And they’re all laughing, as I’m looking around the room. But there’s one thing missing, and that was the moment I knew.”

This song gives off that dreaded feeling of being so lonely in a sea of people in a beautiful and timeless way. However, any lyric that mentions red lipstick is a personal favorite of mine.

3. ‘Better Man’ written by Taylor Swift for Little Big Town

“I wish you were a better man. I wonder what we would’ve become if you were a better man. We might still be in love if you were a better man. You would’ve been the one if you were a better man.”

Technically Taylor did not sing this song, but she did write it for the country band Little Big Town *sigh*. Everyone can relate to this song because everyone has experienced that feeling of “what if.” It’s hauntingly beautiful and also makes you want to curl up in a ball and eat some ice cream.

2. ‘Clean’ 1989

“Ten months sober, I must admit, just because you’re clean don’t mean you don’t miss it. Ten months older, I won’t give in, now that I’m clean I’m never gonna risk it.”

These lyrics speak to me on so many different levels. Taylor never fails to turn real feelings that everyone has at some point in their life into words. Everyone has been in that relationship, whether it was with a boyfriend, girlfriend, or just a friend, when you know it’s toxic but you still have flashbacks of the best parts. Even if someone was completely wrong for you, it’s okay to miss them sometimes as long as you know that ending it was the right decision. That’s important.

1. ‘All Too Well’ Red

“And you call me up again just to break me like a promise, so casually cruel in the name of being honest.”

We’ve finally made it to #1! I consider this song Taylor’s greatest masterpiece. And, yes, I do get chills hearing this lyric. Taylor managed to capture all the feelings of having your heart broken over and over in just one sentence. To be honest, this entire song is filled with lyrical genius, so if you’ve never listened, you should. As soon as possible.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
