10 Problems All Tall Girls Have

I'll admit that I'm not even super tall.

Being a girl is fairly tall I have encountered quite a few problems or common occurrences in my life. At 5'7", I am certainly not an incredibly tall girl, but for myself and a few of my taller female friends, this list will discuss a few things I have experienced.

*shoutout to my best friends for taking pictures with me despite our height difference*

1. "I bet you played/play basketball in high school."

I hear this at least once a week. No exaggeration. I can assure you that I did not play basketball in high school. Just because I'm tall does not mean I am athletic in any way, shape or form. I never even had the slightest urge to play a sport in high school.

2. "You have the biggest feet I have ever seen!"

Yes, I have big feet. Size 10 in women's. Yes, it makes it hard to find dress shoes. Yes, my pair of Converse make my feet look even bigger than they already are. Let me tell you though, having small feet and being tall is asking for trouble. How the hell am I gonna balance on little stub feet?!

3. "Have you ever dated anyone shorter than you?"

What? Why does this even matter? No, I have not dated anyone shorter than me. My prom date was only 5'4 though so I had to skip out on the heels that night.

4. "You're tall, can you grab that for me?"

This happens frequently at one of the job sites I work at. Yes, I am tall. No, that does not mean that I can easily grab a 25-pound box full of cookie dough over my head so you can have it.

5. "You're tall enough to be a model!"

I may be tall enough, but I can tell you I eat way too much junk food to start a model's diet plan.

6. I can never find a pair of jeans that fit me properly.

I am at that awkward height where regular length jeans are high waters and long jeans make me trip over my own (huge) feet. I also have the problem with having thin, muscular legs and big hips. This often means even my extra skinny jeans are still baggy on my legs and thighs.

7. Being 5'3 at 11 years old

This may only be a "me" problem. In 5th grade, I was the tallest kid in my grade. Taller than all the boys even. This meant the playground started getting to be hard to use during recess. My feet touched the ground on the monkey bars and dragged along the ground on the swings. I was constantly hitting my head because the structures were made for little kids. And I was not little anymore.

8. "You're the perfect height for me."

This is also a "me" problem. It's not really a problem though. When my fiance and I first met he commented how I was the perfect kissing height. He didn't need to bend down at all to kiss me. He can just tilt his head down and there I am. Is this really a problem? No, not really. I'll never get those cute pictures of piggybacks and he certainly won't be picking me up bridal style after our wedding but that's just fine with me! There is no crouching in this picture. He's still 5 inches taller than me though I'd like to point out.

9. Finding a dress that fits

Finding a dress for school dances that were actually long enough to cover me was incredibly difficult. Most of the time I had to wear spandex shorts under my dresses to prevent any embarrassing blunders. This also counts with ladies shirts. I would have to buy a size or two larger than I needed to prevent any uncomfortable belly action when I lifted my arms.

10. Being the tallest in your friend group

My friends would always say they wish they were tall and I would always tell them they didn't. Being the tallest friend was awful. Trying to take selfies with my friends either meant their faces directly next to my boobs or me crouching down uncomfortably.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
