10 Summer Movies I'm Excited To See

Everyone knows that the best movies come out during the summer. Something about warmer weather makes movies seem even more appealing to me. This also seems to hold true for others as well, because most of the blockbuster movies happen during the summer months. Summer of 2016 is no exception to this rule. Several great movies are slated to be released during the summer of 2016 and I cannot wait to see them. Here are the 10 movies that I am most excited to see during the summer of 2016.

1. Me Before You

Me Before You is based on the book of the same name. It tells the story of Louisa Clark, a young girl, who takes on the job of caretaker to Will Traynor, a man who is paralyzed from the neck down. Louisa and Will subsequently begin to fall in love. Starring Emila Clarke from Game of Thrones and Sam Claflin from The Hunger Games series, this movie is at the top of my must see list. I'm a hopeles romantic and I can tell just from the trailer that this movie is the real deal.

2. The Conjuring II

In addition to being a hopeless romantic, I am also a horror movie junkie. The first Conjuring movie scared me more than I have ever been scared by a horror movie, so I can only imagine what this movie will do to me. The Conjuring 2 is based on the true events involving Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga), a husband and wife team of paranormal investigators. In this movie, the Warrens travel to Enfield, England to help a single mother and children who are being terrorized by a poltergeist in their home. The trailer for this movie scared me, so I can only imagine how I will react to the movie.

3. Finding Dory

I absolutely loved Finding Nemo. Dory was by far my favorite character from the movie and even though I am 18 years old, I am still looking forward to watching this movie. Finding Dory takes place six months after the events of Finding Nemo. Dory (voiced by Ellen DeGeneres), who is a very forgetful fish, begins to recall memories of her family and enlists the help of Marlin and Nemo to find her parents.

4. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates

Anna Kendrick and Zac Efron are two of my favorite actors. Throw in comedy and rowdiness and you can't go wrong. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates centers around hard-partying brothers Mike (Adam Devine) and Dave (Zac Efron) Stangle, who are forced to find presentable dates for their sister's wedding by their parents. The boys place an online ad, which is answered by two equally as wild girls, Tatiana (Aubrey Plaza) and Alice (Anna Kendrick), who pass themselves off as respectable young ladies. Of course this backfires, but hey, we get laughs in the process.

5. The Secret Life of Pets

This is quite possibly the cutest movie that I will ever have the pleasure to see. The Secret Life of Pets tells the story of Max (Louis C.K.), who is a spoiled Jack Russel, fighting for attention from his own after she adopts Duke (Eric Stonestreet). Soon, Max and Duke must join forces to stop Snowball (Kevin Hart), a deranged rabbit, from wreaking havoc on the pets of Manhattan.

6. Suicide Squad

I also happen to be a huge fan of the Marvel and DC comic movies. This movie is going to be great in my opinion because who doesn't love a good villian. Starring big hollywood names such as Will Smith, Viola Davis, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevigne and Jared Leto, Suicide Squad centers around a group of villians who are employed by the government to take on black ops missions in exchange for release from prison. I cannot wait to see this movie, particularly to see Jared Leto's portrayal of the Joker.

7. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows

I know this doesn't sound like a movie I would be interested in watching, but hear me out. I grew up watching the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies and when they did a remake, I absolutely had to watch it. I loved it. Now with the second movie coming out, I am more than ready. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows takes place after the events of the first movie. The turtles come out of the shadows and reveal themselves to society in the wake of a resurgence from the Foot Clan and the Shredder.

8. Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising

The first Neighbors movie was quite possibly one of the funniest and raunchiest movies I have ever seen. I can only imagine how it will be in the sequel. Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising follows Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly (Rose Byrne) Radner as they reunite with Teddy (Zac Efron) to take down a new sorority headed by Shelby (Chloe Grace Moretz) after she was rejected from Phi Lamda Phi by Madison (Selena Gomez).

9. X-Men: Apocalypse

I am a huge fan of the X-Men franchise and I am very excited to watch this movie. X-Men: Apocalypse follows Professor Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) as he leads a group of young mutants to face the powerful mutant Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) as he trys to detroy the world and all humanity. The third installment of the X-Men prequel franchise, Apocalypse looks like it will be a great movie.

10. Bad Moms

I don't know much about this movie, but after reading the synopsis, it sounds like it will be a very funny movie. Bad Moms follows three mothers with seemingly perfect lives who are tired of being perfect. So they decide to go out and do the most un-mom like things they can, which eventually brings them face-to-face with the president of the PTA and the other so called "perfect" moms. I'm really interested to see how this movie will play out.

These are just some of the movies that will be released this summer and the movies that I am most excited to see. I hope this gave you some ideas for movies you can see this summer, I know I'll be standing in line for my tickets.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
