Everything old is new again and our parents are the original hipsters.

Though many of us feel our generation's style is completely original, we cannot deny that many of our hip looks come from generations past. We have modernized these fashion statements into something we convince ourselves is our own creation. Yet, it is amusing to look back and compare how these unique trends have evolved and made their way back into each of our tastes. I think these are some of the most popular and surprising ones:

1. Crop Tops

Oh, and never forget Britney Spear's low-cut jeans crop top look! This style, though, has actually been around since the 1940's.

2. Chokers

Making a comeback in the past few years specifically, chokers have been made popular time and time again (despite sometimes looking like a dog collar).

3. Straight Hair

"They all think they're Veronica Lake."

I'm sure no one got my Major and the Minor reference; but it's true that when this hair style comes back, everyone has it.

4. High-Waisted Jeans

My parents were shocked with a hint of excitement to hear this style has come back. Though slightly different look from the 1980's, the same effect is reached.

5. The Cat Eye

Audrey Hepburn's exquisite cat eye has created a romantic, sultry look for women to model since the 1950's and 1960's. Clearly, plenty of women continue to copy this look today, especially on the red carpet.

6. Fanny Packs

Another style my parents (and I) were shocked came back...but hey, very convenient!

7. Off-the-Shoulder Tops

This style always seems to make a comeback, and rightfully so.

8. Scrunchies

Though this is certainly person-to-person based, I think scrunchies are one of the greatest inventions by man. They are colorful, don't dent your hair and make you look like a super fun human being!

9. Slip Dresses

From Hilary Duff to Anne Hathaway, women love slip dresses yet again after they became popular in the 1990's.

10. Sneakers

Statement sneakers have certainly become hip again for both genders and several ages.

I guess we'll have to see what other trends make their way back to our closets in years to come...

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
