If you are a "naturalista" like me or have recently gone natural, then it's no question how much we love our hair. And if so, then you can most definitely relate to these following struggles of dealing with your curly strands.

1. Conditioner, gone. Shampoo, for days.

You tend to use way more conditioner than shampoo whether to detangle or co-wash, either way – time to restock on that conditioner sister.

2. You want to wear a hat? Yeah? No.

Hmm, maybe a visor though?

3. You can’t sit in the middle of the backseat of a car.

I mean, unless you want to keep crouching and being asked to move your head. But I mean who wants to sit there anyways?

4. At times you will be asked, "Can I touch your hair?"

Uh, nuh. I get your curious, but were not at a petting zoo – a whole other article would need to be made on this topic...

5. You become a product junkie.

Boo, you don’t need all those products! Your wallet is crying for you to stop!

6. Time consuming hair styles. OMG.

I am probably the laziest, most impatient "naturalista" out there. I’ve tried about everything and given up, twist-outs are as far as I will go! You thought straightening your hair was a process. Ha! Natural hairstyles are a workout.

7. The. Shrinkage. Is. Real.

Yes, yes I am.

8. Single strand knots.

Why do you exist?

9. You can't just "go to sleep."

No. You have to do something to maintain that wash and go, twist-out, etc. Or the next morning you will regret it and be looking like the pictures above.

10. But no matter what, at the end of the day, you love that beautiful fro and either way, you embrace all the struggles that may come along with it!

Work it!

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
