This semester, I have had the privilege to conduct research as an undergrad. It's something I've enjoyed so far, and I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity. I have learned some interesting things and had some good breakthroughs, but I've also become acquainted with some new struggles. The student research struggle is all too real when:
1. All sources lead back to the same original source so what you thought would be five sources is actually one.
2. There's what looks like it could be great information on a source, but there's no citation on where they got the information.
3. All. Of. The. Irrelevant. Search. Results.
4. All. Of. The. Repeated. Search. Results.
5. There's rejected interlibrary-loan requests.
6. The citation is juuuuust off.
7. The citations and bibliography have to be changed based on the publication or audience the work is going to.
8. There's paywalls on resources.
9. You have a very specific research topic, and the larger topic it's part of is all you can find background info on.
10. Nobody is quite as interested in your topic as you are.
