When you grow up in the South, or anywhere else in the world really, everyone seems to always be talking about summer and how they absolutely cannot wait for it. People always speak wistfully of the 90-degree heat, camping trips, and creating a stockpile of new bathing suits for those pool days. But for some of us, it is difficult to see what the hype is all about. Here are some of the basic struggles of those rare Southerners who hate summer.
1. It's basically 4,000 degrees outside.
2. If the heat doesn't get you, the humidity will.
3. You have to slather yourself in bug spray to prevent being eaten alive by mosquitoes.
4. You can't go outside without getting sunburned.
5. Everyone expects you to wear bright colors, but everything you own is black.
6. All events take place outdoors.
7. You never stop sweating. Ever.
8. The thunderstorms never stop.
9. Someone is always trying to make you go camping.

Despite the joys of no school, sleeping in, and having no responsibilities, summer definitely has its downfalls. But on the bright side, it only lasts for three months out of the year. So try to soak up sun, enjoy the time off, and don't fret too much because fortunately for you...
