I might be the oldest child, but I am also the shortest. Sometimes it is embarrassing to be so short, but other times, my shortness is the best thing! To the girls who are short, here are 10 struggles that we can all relate to:
1. Getting the "how tall are you?" every time we meet someone new.
Sometimes when you tell them how tall you are, they might not believe you which gets very frustrating.
2. Having to do a slow jog while walking to keep up with your friends.
This is one of those times it is embarrassing and frustrating being short because our legs are about half of our friends legs size and that requires us to practically run to keep up with them!
3. Finding poses for pictures with our friends who are so much taller than us.
This one is almost impossible to do!
4. "Do you want a kid's menu?"
Yes, this still happens to us short girls who are 20 years old. Crazy, I know!
5. Getting tired of having to be practically on the steering wheel to drive.
Our seats have to be at the wheel in order for our legs to reach the gas and brakes. We also may have to have a cushion or phone book to sit on while driving so we can see over the hood of the car.
6. The frustration that occurs when someone who is so much taller than you sits in front of you.
This is frustrating no matter where it happens, at the movies, at a sporting event, or even just standing in line.
7. "You're closer to the ground, pick it up"
...is something we hear often when people are just too lazy to bend over and pick something up!
8. "Why are you so short?" has got to be one of the most annoying things ever said to us.
We are so short because we wanted to be, like seriously why else would we be so short?!
9. The hunt to find jeans or pants that don't go too far below our ankles.
10. "Don't you wish you were taller?"
...sometimes this is a yes and other times it is a no. Just depends on the situation.
There you have it, the 10 most frequent struggles every short girl knows! So for all of those short girls out there who think they experience these struggles, you are not alone!
Sincerely,
A college sophomore who is barely 5 feet, 2 inches!
