About a year ago I decided to join the Fitbit life. I thought getting a Fitbit would put fitness into perspective for me, but in reality, it just made me a crazy walker, runner, or anything step related. Like many other step counters, the device shows your steps, calories burned, sleep cycle, and you can even track your daily calorie intake. I slowly found myself getting super excited every time I felt the vibration on my wrist and hit my 10,000 step goal. For many people, obtaining the step goal is pretty hard, but for obsessive people like me, it becomes about how many steps over that goal I can be each day. While making me a healthier person this little contraption on my wrist started to slowly make me crazy and now I feel it is my duty to pass on the daily struggles of your Fitbit owning you.. uh what did I say? I meant owning a Fitbit.

1. Working out at the gym must contain the treadmill, elliptical or stair master. If you lift weights this does not feel like a workout because you didn't gain any steps.

2. Walking in circles around your house or work because you live to feel the glorious vibration on your wrist.

Must. Get. Steps.

3. Feeling like you are missing an entire limb if your Fitbit isn't on your wrist.

4. You find yourself subconsciously checking the app even if you haven't gotten up to walk anywhere.

Nope, nothing's changed since I checked 10 seconds ago.

5. If you aren't competing with your list of Fitbit friends you are competing with your previous week.

6. Although half of the goals are inaccurate (sorry Fitbit), you need to reach them so the app bursts with green.

I did it... now time for bed.

7. You find yourself going shopping not to actually buy things, but for all the steps you'll get walking around big department stores/malls.

8. Sleeping with your Fitbit makes you realize you don't actually sleep, you're just "restless."

9. Choosing the farthest parking spot and being happy about it.

10. Getting excited when you stay up past midnight because you get a head start on the next day's steps.

For everyone thinking about getting a Fitbit, I can personally say even though it made me go crazy, it has been a great thing for me. I now realize how active I am supposed to be. If you are thinking about starting your fitness journey this is a great first step. Just beware of the side effects. Happy stepping Fitbit friends!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
