It's the best and worst thing to ever happen.

Everyone knows that having a group chat with your friends can be both a blessing, and a curse. It is great and convenient when you all want to talk to each other or figure out a plan, but there are times when you just want to remove yourself from the conversation all together. You love your friends, but sometimes when your phone is blowing up with hundreds of messages at a time at 3 a.m., you can't help but die a little on the inside. Here are 10 constant struggles that every squad faces in their group chat:

1. Your group chat blows up at the most inconvenient times.

Whether you're in class, in a meeting or on a family vacation, your messages just keep on coming. You may even be told "Wow, you're so popular!" But then, you have to just explain that it's the same two people texting you-- hundreds of times.

2. When you actually have no one to talk to, the chat is silent.

Then, on the days where you are bored out of your mind and would talk to anything or anyone in sight, your friends just aren't around. You may even send message after message begging someone to respond, but your phone still stays quiet.

3. Catching up on reading all of the texts you missed out on is exhausting.

Have you ever tried reading hundreds of text messages at one time? It is absolutely exhausting. Half the time I don't even bother reading them. I figure if it's so important, my friends will bring it up again.

4. Making plans is the hardest task of all.

What is the worst thing about a group chat? No one can ever agree on anything. There is always that one person that doesn't want to do anything, the one person that is throwing out all the ideas, and the one who claims they are down for anything, but has no fresh ideas to offer themselves. It's simply a recipe for disaster.

5. When two people have a conversation with each other without texting privately.

Cool, it's not like I am here or anything. Nothing would give me more pleasure than to have my phone blown up with all the texts containing the plans you two are making for tonight!

6. Having that one person that just never responds.

There's always that one friend who actually seems to have a life. You can talk for hours with your friend, and then after what seems like centuries, that one friend will appear, usually saying something like "oh hey".

7. Texting the wrong chat.

The worst. Nothing more embarrassing than texting or sending a picture to the wrong group chat. My bad!

8. When you're trying to sleep and your phone won't stop vibrating.

You try to ignore it for as long as you can, but sometimes you just have to break down and put your phone on silent. Or, my personal solution is to mute the conversation.

9. As much as you hate the chat, you experience major fomo without it.

When you don't have access to your phone and you know your friends are busy talking, you begin to wonder "what are they talking about?" "what am I missing out on?" "What's the 411?"

10. When you all finally make a solid plan, it is considered a major accomplishment.

Although the ratio of failed plans to completed ones is quite large, the day that you all form solid plans that everyone agrees on is always a great accomplishment. Maybe your group chat isn't so bad after all.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
