10 Struggles Of Being Short

If you're over 5'5'' you really have no room to talk.

Being short is not easy. Nor is it fun to be reminded of the fact. Yes, you may think we are "cute" because we are small, or think we are "lucky" because we can fit into the petite style of clothing. While there are some positives to being short, here are a list of the top ten reasons why being short is not all its cracked up to be.

1. Top shelves are out of the question (and out of reach)

You hesitate to put your stuff on the top shelf of anything with a top shelf for fear that you will never see it again. Or, in most cases, you just forget about it.

2. Step stools are needed to reach everything

Whether it is reaching for something on the top shelf, putting dishes away at work, or trying to hang decorations on the wall the step stool is an essential part of a short girl's life.

3. You are always the one volunteered for "hey can you fit back there?" situations

You're always the one asked to fit into the small, cramped spaces to get something for a normal sized human.

4. People always think you look younger than you actually are

I was told that I will not mind this so much the older I get, but for now it's just straight up annoying.

5. Pants are always too long

It is hard to find the perfect pair of pants that are not too long, too short, or too tight at the thigh.

6. You end up being the shortest sibling

I am three years older than my brother and six years older than my sister and I am shorter than both of them. It is the family joke now.

7. When you have to walk extra fast to keep up with your friends

My normal pace has developed into a normal person's face paced walk because of always having to keep up with those around me.

8. When you have to look slightly upward when talking to people taller than you

I have figured out the further you stand from the other person than the less I have to crane my neck to look them in the eye.

9. Having to pull your seat uncomfortably close to the steering wheel and finding and you still can't reach the petals.

Enough said.

10. People CONSTANTLY ask "OMG! How short ARE you?"

This is one of the most annoying questions I have ever been asked. Thank you very much for the reminder, tall person.

To all you tall people out there, I hope you can read this article and sympathize with our vertical struggle.

Christmas Tree

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
