10 Struggles Of Being Naturally Skinny

We just have fast metabolisms.

I have been skinny my entire life. I have been blessed with the trait of not having to deal with the troubles of losing weight or maintaining weight, but there is a lot of hate attached to this blessing. I think any naturally skinny person can agree when I say that being naturally skinny isn't all fun and games, so here are some of the struggles that we face on a daily basis.

#1 When people ask if you eat every day.

We do not starve ourselves. In fact, some of us are eating ALL THE TIME.

#2 When someone says you should gain some weight.

Maybe you should worry about yourself and not about the fact that it is challenging for a naturally skinny person to gain weight.

#3 Being called a "Twig" or a "Bag Of Bones"

Making fun of a skinny person is just like making fun of a fat person.

#4 When people assume that we are weak just because we don't have much meat on our bones.

Physical strength is not everything. Many of us are mentally and emotionally strong, and some are physically strong - it depends on the person.

#5 Having a hard time finding jeans that fit you.

Have you ever spent hours browsing stores and not finding any jeans that will fit you? It is a scavenger hunt to find a pair of pants that fits unless it is joggers or sweatpants. I have almost resorted to the kid's section quite a few times.

#6 You are cold no matter what season it is.

We are not sick, we just don't retain heat like everybody else.

#7 People are always wanting to feed you because they feel like you need to eat more, even when you are full.

I will eat when I want to eat; there is no need to overfeed me to the point to where I am puking.

#8 When you go to the gym and people ask why you are working out.

I would love to stay healthy, so I could live a long time. Plus, you should be happy that we are working out. It proves that no matter what we do we just can't gain weight.

#9 When someone hugs you lightly and they feel like they are going to break you.

Give me a fantastic hug. My bones are not paper or glass - they don't break that easily.

#10 Having to deal with all the above every day.

No matter who you are or what you have people will always judge no matter what. But, just remember that we are people too and contribute to society. Be grateful that our metabolisms are the only reason why we are so skinny and not because of eating disorders, or starvation.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
