The 10 Struggles Of Group Projects

At first glance, group projects seem ideal. More people means less work, right? In theory, a group project should be easy. You divide up the work, everyone does their part and you submit the project on time, no problem. Well, that’s not how it works … ever.

Here are the 10 struggles we all feel while working through a not-so-ideal group project.

Choosing your groups is always awkward.

Different schedules collide.

Everyone has their own interpretation of the teacher’s instructions.

The group member who thinks their idea is the best when you really know yours is better.

The group member who just never answers their phone.

Your group’s inability to match your brilliance.

Google Docs becomes your fifth group member.

Your group member’s power to bring down your performance level.

When you have a group member who loves flirting with deadlines.

The dreaded group grade.

When it comes time for your next group project, keep these struggles in mind. It will help when you realize you should opt for the individual assignment option.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
