Being an art major at times can be stressful, frustrating, and down right depressing. Our projects are never just right, our professors are always overly critical, and the nude models always tend to pose in a very unsettling way. Through all of our daily struggles however, we manage to find the light at the end of the tunnel and create beautiful pieces and never for a second regret the decision to study art.

1. You think you have the perfect project idea and then change it 200 more times.

"Maybe I"ll make a penguin sculpture....wait no an exact replica of Donald Trump's toupee....no too hairy...."

2. When your supplies are so expensive you think about selling your organs on the black market.

Your food pyramid consisted of Ramen and PB&J for the rest of the semester after you bought all of your stuff.

3. Most of your art classes are at least 2 hours long.

You could probably go to the DMV, wait in every single line, and get out before your class is anywhere close being over.

4. The disaster your room becomes when you do homework in it.

Your room was messier than Taylor Swift's love life TBH.

5. You have to draw naked people more than you would like.

Figure Drawing class is always an interesting experience ...especially when your model throws in some yoga poses.

6. You have to use mediums that you have never used.

This is the time when you try your hardest and then when it doesn't come out good call it, "Abstract".

7. Your professors are never exactly "normal".

Our professors are artists, and lets face it, no artist is normal.

8. There is only one forbidden world in art school: FINALS.

Each class gives you a humongous project that is supposed to be perfection, about a week to do them all, and you have at least three art classes in a semester. you do the math.

9. Walking to class with your supplies is considered cardio for the week.

Walking from your dorm to the art building with your portfolio, drawing pads, and all your other supplies is no easy task. It quite literally sucks the life out of you.

10. Trying to explain art stuff to your non-art friends.

Me: So I said Phthlao Blue not Ultramarine!

Friend: What?

Even though there are a lot of hard and stressful times being an art major, there are so many wonderful times too. You meet friends you can relate to, discover new mediums, grow as a person and as an artist, and so much more. How lucky are we that we get to go to school for our passion and eventually are able to get a job doing what we love. Art major is life is the best kind of life!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
