Looking for a few little extra things to brighten your friend's, roommate's or sibling's Christmas? If I had it my way, I'd have a Bloomingdale's budget but in reality I know I'll find myself in the Dollar General 48 hours before the big day. It might start to look like mom is getting a glitter compact and some hand sanitizer in her stocking this year....again. False! Below are some suggestions for those of us who want to spread some holiday cheer without having nothing but crumbs in our wallets come December 26th.

1. Cord Tacos

Come to think of it, tangled headphones just might be this generation's most annoying everyday struggle. From the airport, trekking to class and pumping iron, music and hands free calls are something we can't seem to live without. Knotted headphones? Knot anymore!

2. Portable Charger

I don't think I'm the only one who regularly forgets to charge their phone before I hit the hay. "Anyone have a charger?" is something I hear or ask at least twice a day. Giving a portable charger is basically wrapping up the gift of life. Just think, you and your friend will never have to go without Instagram or Facebook during your busy day again.

3. Graphic Tees

From your favorite band, to your parent's 1960's go-to, graphic tees have made a huge come up in today's fashion industry. Can't outgrow the classics right? Your mom, boyfriend or even teenage sister can all enjoy the comfort of a casual fit and also add a little flare to their look all because of you! What a great feeling?

4. Snack-Cap Lens Covers

Have a photographer on your list that also loves a good burger or the occasional jelly filled donut? Photojojo came out with these novelty lens covers for anyone who wanted to make their tool stand out!

5. Waterproof Phone Case

Heading on a Christmas cruise? Already planning for your spring break getaway? I bet you'd be pretty upset if you got home and only got to develop your pictures you took on dry land! BORING! With this water-proof phone case, you can capture everything under the deep blue sea too.Great for a tropical trip or even a visit to the neighborhood pool!

6. Candle Holder

Love the scent of your holiday candel but hate that soot covered glass jar? Cover it up with a cute ceramic holder! Now your friends can have all the joy of warm apple pie all the time without having to lift a finger in the kitchen and without that ugly blacked candle on the mantel.

7. Emergency Kits

No, not a first aid kit with band-aids and all that. I'm talking the full hangover, stain removal, in a pinch, save your entire life ensemble. I'm a huge believer in these little miracles. There's a few different options as far as what's inside, but I guarantee you'll wonder how you ever survived without them.

8. Mobile Phone Lens Package

Know someone who has everything? This is something any and everyone can use on their smartphone. With this combination, you have the option to take stunning photos with a fish eye perspective, wide angle and even an enhanced zoom. Give someone special the ability to take unique pictures without all the cumbersome equipment!

9. Socks

Before you roll your eyes at this cliche idea, check out the link below. Happy Socks has everything from super soft underwear to affordable, hilarious and creative socks. Bored of wearing that same 3 piece suit to work everyday? Sweatpants to class even? Have a little fun with what you have on underneath! Creative patterns that you can mix and match are just what you need to pick you up each morning when you're getting dressed!

10. Something Handmade

The rumors are true. Handmade gifts will never get old. There's just something so endering and personal about seeing someone's handwriting or doodling on a card or a craft they made just for you. It's almost free, unless you're an overachiever..After all, the holidays aren't about how much money you spend on someone!

All in all, this December, remember to cross off that list quick and easy! On a tight budget even, any of these 10 gifts will be sure to make someone smile.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
