10 Steps To Dealing With Change

How does everyone deal with change? I've found that many people have ways of dealing with change, but I just can't change as fast as other people can. Here are ten ways to deal with change, they may not work for everyone, but they're definitely worth a try.

1. Noticing that changes are happening.

Sometime people are oblivious to what is going on around the so when it comes to change they don't recognize it at all. Everyone has a different way of noticing that changes are happening and that they cannot do anything about it.

2. Face the feelings.

Many people have conflicting emotions towards the idea of change, which is completely normal. The best way to face it, is to understand "Hey this is going to change. You can either be happy about it or be depressed about it." Facing your feelings about change is harder cause you clearly don't know how to feel when it comes to the actual moment.

3. Learn how to accept that change is happening.

Some people like to ignore the idea that change is happen, which is OK because they cannot cope with the idea that something is changing. Other people like accepting that this exact change can be good for them, it may even take some time to accept it at first.

4. Communicate with someone.

Sometimes when it comes to the idea of change, people have a tendency to bottle up feelings. So go talk to someone. If you need to rant, go rant. No one is stopping you from stating how you feel about the situations.

5. Be grateful.

Everyone tells you to "be grateful" about what you have and who you have. I hate to say this, but they are right. Be grateful that this change might actually help you go through life. You never know what will happen if you aren't grateful that change is changing your opinions on it.

6. As more changes are occurring focus on your actions toward them.

Always keep an open mind about change, you never know why this change might be happening to you so all you can do is stay positive about it. Change will always have a little negativity in it, but the way you react to the negativity should be thought about.

7. Continue doing you.

Don't let these changes take over your life. These changes are going to stop time, so don't make it seem like it will. Keep getting your education, keep doing your job, keep being you.

8. Relax.

It is normal for many things around you to change. You changed. Everyone changes, so don't be upset that your friend changed the way she dresses or that your parents are changing where they move. All that matters is that you relax and breathe. Everything will be fine at the end.

9. Get ready for the next changes.

More things will change in front of you, but as long as you feel comfortable about the changes you can handle the next changes that will come in your direction.

10. Have fun!

Doesn't matter what these changes around doing to you, go enjoy your life as you. Before you change some more, change can even give you a bit of an adventure, take it and enjoy it.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
