With the new year in full swing, it has now become that time when most New Year’s resolutions tend to be forgotten. The diet is broken, the gym membership was cancelled, and that bag of chips is calling your name. The worst part is that it’s not even February yet. One of the biggest obstacles that you’ll face to getting back on track is laziness, but that shouldn’t be what holds you back! Here are some ways that being lazy will help you meet your fitness goal!

1. Netflix Workout

Do you have a favorite show? Do you enjoy binge watching that show? While you spend hours indulging yourself, you can make a workout plan! Do five jumping jacks every time that a chef burns their food. When there is a lame joke made, do a few crunches. It's like a drinking game, but with exercise!

2. Carry All Of Your Groceries In At Once

After you've gone grocery shopping is the perfect time to work on those arm muscles. Grab all of your bags at the same time and bring them inside! Not only will you get a workout, but you also only need one trip. This means less work for your legs!

3. Make As Many Trips As Possible

Giving your arms a break has never been this easy! Instead of taking all your groceries in at once, do it one bag at a time! Not only will you be able to relax those tired arms, but you'll be giving your legs a workout by walking back and forth to your car!

4. Put Your Bowls On The Top Shelf

This way, when you are feeling like having some cereal or ice cream, you'll have to work to get it. It may also cause you to jump or climb, so you won't simply be stretching!

5. Park Your Car Far Away

Whether you've been trying to exercise for years, or you are simply beginning, you will always hear that you need to walk more. Well, here is the perfect solution! Instead of fighting for the space near the door, just park farther away! You'll have to walk a bit, which will give you your exercise and you'll feel more relief when you finally make it to the store or restaurant.

6. Babysit

Do you have kids? Do you know someone with kids? Offer to babysit! Whether you end up playing with dolls or running around outside, you are sure to feel tired afterwards. Who knows, you might even get paid for it.

7. Get An Exercise Ball

No matter where you are, or what you are doing, it's always a good idea to bounce on an exercise ball. How is this exercise? I have no idea, but it’s in the name and you get to have fun bouncing!

8. Leave Your Remote On The Other Side Of The Room

This way, if you want to change the channel, you'll have to get up. Yes, you could just continue watching what you don't like, but are you really willing to do that?

9. Dance

It doesn't have to be anything fancy, just some good, old fashioned partying if you'd like. Don't be afraid to get excited about the little things and do a jig out of joy. It will count as your exercise for the day!

10. Take The Stairs Instead Of The Elevator

This might seem like a lot of work, and it might also take more time, but if it's for your health, then isn't it worth it?

No matter what small steps you take to help your health this year, remember that it isn't always about going to gyms or doing CrossFit every day. It's about knowing your body and working to make a change. Even the laziest of people do it and I have faith that you can too! I wish you good luck!

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
