You thought you wanted to go far from home for college, but you never thought it would be this much of a challenge. Nor did you think you would get homesick, but hey, it happens.

1. What going home actually means.

Going home every three months means so much more than you think. You do not think you miss home until you see your roommate go home for the weekend and you are by yourself. Calling mom and dad is more than just a phone call. Our biggest pet peeve is people complaining that they cant “go home” this weekend… yeah, well, we can’t ever go home.

2. FaceTiming Family is cherished.

*Gets a FaceTime call from dad* Oh my God, your face, dad, it is so good to see you. I may only see you virtually, but seeing your name pop up on my phone is the most exciting part of my day. You get it, I mean, it’s a FaceTime, but hey, dad, you rock.

3. Forgetting something is AWFUL.

You can’t just run home and grab something. Ugh, I left my eyeliner and mascara at home, I will just go grab it later this week. Oh, will you? Yeah, same, I left a pair of shoes, a few shirts, and a coat back home… BRB, just driving five hours to go grab my missing stuff. It’s fine, everything is fine!

4. You don't just "visit your high school friends."

Visiting your friends isn’t a thing. As much as you want to go and see your BFFs from home, you can’t, because they stayed in-state while you decided to leave them and transportation isn’t a easy thing to obtain. Whether you want them to come see you for a weekend, or be there for their birthday, sometimes, you wish you could be in two places at once.

5. Homesickness is a real thing.

Being homesick is real. “I’m homesick, I just want to go home for the weekend.” Oh, well, that’s super cute because I may be sitting on my bed crying and pleading to go home. It’s all right, we out-of-staters know what it’s like to be hours from home and sticking out the tears.

6. The car ride back to school is a journey... literally.

What time are you leaving to come back to school? Well, considering I am four hours away from school, I will be there in four hours. Being far from your college friends is just as bad as being far from your high school BFFs. Everyone who you go to college with leaves at 12 p.m., while you leave at 8 a.m. to get there at the same time.

7. Although going to college in a different state hasn't been the easiest, we wouldn't change a thing.

We wouldn’t want it any other way. We love all of our friends and family, and we would not be the out-of-state students we are without them! We might not be up to date with the entire coolest state lingo, but we are learning, so cut us some slack!

8. The feeling of going home will ALWAYS be such an incredible feeling.

Walking through the doors to your house and hugging your family is something that will never get old. The hug you get from your mom and dad after being away at school for three months is a hug that you always look forward too. Even with every annoying phone call and little tiff we get into, we look forward to walking through the doors with the smell of home and arms to wrap us with love.

If I have learned one thing in my lifetime, it is that friends are a privilege. No one is required to give you their company and yet there is some sort of shared connection that keeps you together. And from that friendship, you may even find yourself lucky enough to have a few more friends, thus forming a group. Here are just a few signs that prove your current friend group is the ultimate friend group.

When it comes to television, there’s very few sets of on-screen siblings that a lot of us can relate to. Only those who have grown up with siblings knows what it feels like to fight, prank, and love a sibling. Ross and Monica Geller were definitely overbearing and overshared some things through the series of "Friends," but they captured perfectly what real siblings feel in real life. Some of their antics were funny, some were a little weird but all of them are completely relatable to brothers and sisters everywhere.

1. The Legacy.

Her sister was a member, her mom was a member, all of her aunts were members, and her grandma was a member. She has been waiting her whole life to wear these letters and cried hysterically on bid day. Although she can act entitled at times, you can bet she is one of the most enthusiastic sisters.

It becomes harder and harder to focus in classes and while doing assignments as the days get closer. The winter has been lagging, the days are short and dark, and no one is quite themselves due to lack of energy and sunlight. Let's face it: life is ten times better in the summertime.
