10 Spontaneous Adventures At College

Some might say that being at college is a new kind of adventure that introduces many exciting and scary opportunities. During your days and nights as a college student you will be exposed to a whole new world of possibilities. You will most definitely do a handful of ridiculous things and the best part is that they will never be planned. Here are 10 spontaneous adventures you would be lucky to accomplish in college...

1. Trips to the pet store for multiple fish.

Nothing will replace having your dog or cat, but the closest thing you can have to that now is a fish in a ten gallon tank. The new addition to the dorm won't be the exact same, but it makes it a little better.

2. Long drives to absolutely nowhere.

Theres nothing like a long car ride with great people. Finding open roads in a place you know nothing about is thrilling. With no destination you might be gone for hours and possibly lost, but at least you have a radio.

3. Driving around in October until you find a hay ride.

When its halloween season you're bound to find a place to get your scare on. Obviously you have to take advantage of the pleasure anyone has in paying to be scared and the terrible free hot chocolate afterwards.

4. Good thing Wawa is open 24/7.

You will be hungry at 2am, but don't worry someone else probably is too! Wawa will become a constant in your life that never disappoints.

5. If it snows you have to act like a child again.

A snow storm at college is like a huge competition of who can build a better snowman. However, if thats not your cup of tea, you could be like me and my roommate and steal snow from outside, add gatorade and call it a snow cone!

6. You don't need a sled to have a good time.

If you're bored like my roommate and I were on a wintery night just slip into your rain boots. Go for a walk and make sure to step and slide on every sheet of ice you see. It was the most fun we had and it cost absolutely nothing and you know all college students are broke so free is a good thing.

7. You are good enough to make a music video.

A dorm room is not big enough when its midnight and you and your friends are full of energy. Move the jam session to the common room and record it because why not!? Trust me it will be treasured for years to come!

8. College is stressful so go play with puppies.

If you're lucky there will be a local pet store that allows you to play with their puppies. This will be the highlight of your week because puppies make everything better.

9. Spikeball can be an inside game if you're really determined.

For some reason you get the most energy when you should be sleeping. My friends resorted to playing spikeball in our common room because it was clearly too dark outside!

10. How far is the beach...because we should go!?

You will not want to admit that summer is over and winter is approaching. So in order to escape this reality you will decide a 50 degree day in the fall is perfect beach weather. Sooner or later you'll accept that summer's over, but until then you can be founding getting wind-burn on the sand!

Some of the last minute crazy impulses turn into the best memories...so stay spontaneous!!

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
