Because it's only a good song if you can drive to it

The way I rate songs these days is based on one thing: does it sound good when I'm driving on back roads, windows down, no cars in sight? If it passes this criteria, then it automatically becomes one of my favorites.

So, in order to make your life a bit easier, I've included below ten of my favorites from the rock/pop genre that have found themselves blasted at full volume in my little car. I've also included links to each song so they're right there at your fingertips. I would also like to say that the artist with the most "driveable" songs would have to be Little Mix. It's band that comes highly recommend from me. You're welcome in advance.

And here we go, in no particular order...

1. "I'm So Afraid" by Fleetwood Mac (Live Version from The Dance album)

Incredible vocals from Lindsey Buckingham and an even more incredible guitar solo, this song will stick with you. Even if you've heard the studio version from back in the day, the live version will take it to a whole other level for you, that I can guarantee.

2. "Warning" by Nick Jonas

So, the entire song is good but JUST WAIT UNTIL THE CHORUS. It's haunting, beautiful, and really just demands to be blasted at full volume. Just the falsettos alone will give you chills.

3. "Lightning" by Little Mix

When the song first starts playing, you'll be driving along and thinking "Is there a storm coming?" But NO. THAT'S PART OF THE SONG. Eerie strings, a powerful beat, an incredible beat drop, notes that should not be able to be sung courtesy of Ms. Perrie Edwards, and, of course, the fact that they SING IN LATIN. Although these components are strange to think about in one song, trust me. It's amazing.

4. "Take Me There" by McFly

Now, this is a band many of you have probably never heard of. Which is so disappointing because these guys are just so good. The Above The Noise album was an experimental one that was met with much success. It's been a while since they put out an album due to the whole McBusted thing, but they've put out plenty in their career so far. And this song is definitely one of my favorites of theirs, if not my all time favorite. The build-up in the bridge will hit you like a ton of bricks so be prepared. Although, honestly, no matter how much you prepare, you're never truly ready for the power of Danny Jones' voice.

5. "Hanging On" by Ellie Goulding

Ellie's voice is the definition of haunting and that's why we love her so much. When you listen to this song, be sure not to listen to the version with Tinie Tempah. If you're into that sort of stuff, that's fine. But, at least for the first time, listen to the version I have linked above. This song is an experience, one that will leave your heart racing and your skin covered in goosebumps, and Tinie Tempah takes you away from the song in such a jarring way that it ruins it.

6. "Wilderness" by Scarlet Fade

Another band you've probably never heard of (unless, of course, you're friends with me, in which case you're surely sick of hearing me talk about them but listen up for a minute), Scarlet Fade is worthy of your attention and listening ears. Especially "Wilderness" which has a great driving beat behind it (thanks Jake), amazing harmonies (thanks Jaimee), and powerful lyrics (thanks Jordan).

7. "Wasted Love" by Robbie Rosen

That's my BOY right there. Sorry, I just get really excited about Robbie. This is, by far, my favorite song he has ever put out. And while I may be biased, anyone with ears can tell that this is a great song to bump all the way up while you're driving in your car. The beat itself will get you pumped and then you add the majestic qualities of Robbie's voice and we got ourselves a real winner here.

8. "Sweet Disposition" by The Temper Trap

I've known this song for years and I still don't understand half of what they're saying. But when the chorus drops, you better believe I start yelling every single word. And, if you listen to it just a few times, you will as well.

9. "October" by Jon D

If you're not in the mood for bumping too much, here's a nice acoustic piece I know you'll enjoy. Jon is one of my favorite souls, song writers, and musicians. Give him some love by listening to "October". You won't be disappointed.

10. "Walking In The Wind" by One Direction

Last but most certainly not least are my boys. If you have any prior negative opinions on this band, I beg you to listen to this song anyway. If you didn't know it was One Direction, you never would have guessed it was. The lyrics alone contain gems such as "If you're lost, just look for me / You'll find me in the region of the summer stars". And when that chorus hits, GOOD LUCK.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
