Music is widely used as an outlet for personal expression. For me, music has always been a massive part of my identity, even though I don't have any rhythm of my own. I do, however, like to think I have an ear for what sounds good and a knack for making wicked playlists!

Scanning the internet for up-and-coming or lesser known artists has become one of my favorite daily activities. I get chills each time I find a new artist I connect with, especially through their lyrics. These 10 songs are a few of my newest finds. Although these artists are not at the fame level of Beyonce or Bruce Springsteen yet, I guarantee you will love them as much as I do! Whether you're in the mood to nap, dance like no one is watching or need to get some work done, these songs will get you there.

Listen up, enjoy and thank me later!

1. Say You Won't Let Go by James Arthur

Are you ready to cry? This song is beautiful and guarantee it will bring tears to your eyes. Future husband, if you're reading this, start memorizing the lyrics now, because this is going to be our first dance song.

2. Dancing on My Own by Calum Scott (originally by Robyn)

His voice is magical and you will fall in love before the song ends.

3. Rise Up by Andra Day

The combination of her voice, the lyrics, and the music video does something to me. She has an incredibly powerful voice that can't help but give you chills.

4. Hannah by Ray Lamontagne

If you are every anxious, can't fall asleep, or just want to hear the voice of an angel, you need to meet my love, Ray Lamontagne. He is scuffy, wears plaid, and can melt your heart in 3 minutes. Trust me.

5. Shorty Don't Wait by A Great Big World

I swear I have this song on repeat for hours at work. Every time I listen to it, I find myself connecting more and more to the lyrics. Listen to the rest of this album and you won't be sorry!

6. Take The World By Storm by Lukas Graham

Hands down, this is one of my favorite songs. It is empowering and makes you dance no matter what mood you're in. Listen closely to the lyrics if you're in need of a pep talk and a little extra motivation. Every time I listen to this song I feel recharged and ready to take the world by storm (see what I did there?).

7. Phone Down by Lost Kings ft Emily Warren

I was recently introduced to this song, as in last week. It is addicting and crazy catchy. Listen and put your &@#$ing phone down!

8. Is There a Ghost by Band of Horses

Not gonna lie, you may have heard of this one. I love this song and Band of Horses immensely. Their sound is pure and calming. I constantly find myself hearing new songs by them and adding them to every playlist I make.

9. Blessed by Brett Dennen

This song make me so happy and can put me in a dancing mood instantly! Brett Dennen is one of my favorite singers and soon he will be one of yours, too! You will definitely feel #blessed after hearing this gem.

10. Tell the World by Eric Hutchinson

If you haven't seen Eric Hutchinson live, stop what you're doing right now and look up his tour dates. I had the pleasure of seeing him live a few months ago and Wow! He was fantastic. Listen to his music and get ready to dance!

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
