10 Empowering Songs To Help You Get Over A Breakup
Rolling Stone

Breakups are difficult for everyone, but possibly the best part of a breakup is getting over it. But that can be very difficult. Luckily, there is a whole list of songs out there made just to help you get over whoever it was that broke your heart. From nice girls telling you the rules on how to get over boys to girls screaming about how to get revenge, it is all out there, and it is all awesome. Oh, and I did make a YouTube playlist and a Spotify playlist.

1. "New Rules" - Dua Lipa

If you need a kind and pretty girl and her friends to tell you how to get over that boy, I have found the song for you.

Best Lyric: "One, don't pick up the phone/ You know he's only calling 'cause he's drunk and alone"

2. "Woman" - Kesha

An empowering song about the fact that YOU are a woman and you don’t need a man.

Best Lyric: "Don't buy me a drink, I make my money/ Don't touch my weave, don't call me 'honey'"

3. "Shout Out To My Ex" - Little Mix

A song explaining why men aren’t always the best, but why we should thank our exes for they did--or didn’t--give us.

Best Lyric: "Shout out to my ex, you're really quite the man/ You made my heart break and that made me who I am"

4. "Send My Love To Your New Lover" - Adele

Once you actually, truly, get over someone, you can understand and relate to this song.

Best Lyric: "We've gotta let go of all of our ghosts/ We both know we ain't kids no more"

5. "We Don’t Talk Anymore" - Charlie Puth

Looking back at the way you and someone used to be can be a painful experience, but this song at least makes it something to dance to.

Best Lyric: "Should've known your love was a game/ Now I can't get you out of my brain"

6. "Bad Girls" - M.I.A.

Who needs a man, or woman, when you are a bad girl who kicks ass?

Best Lyric: “Live fast, die young, bad girls do it well.”

7. "Before He Cheats" - Carrie Underwood

People that cheat are terrible people and we don’t need ‘em.

Best Lyric: "I slashed a hole in all four tires/ Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats"

8. "100 Letters" - Halsey

A whole song about being glad that what had happened is over and being glad you didn't give them more than you did.

Best Lyric: "But I don't let him touch me anymore/ I said 'I'm not something to butter up/ And taste when you get bored'"

9. "Sorry Not Sorry" - Demi Lovato

Another song about being the baddest and not needing anyone to tell you that.

Best Lyric: "Being so bad got me feelin' so good/ Showing you up like I knew that I would"

10. "Picture To Burn" - Taylor Swift

The queen of breakup songs herself in her prime.

Best Lyric: "There's no time for tears, I'm just sitting here/ Planning my revenge"

Break ups are hard, but there is nothing better than blasting some good music and dancing around your bedroom like you just don't care! So get out there and show the world what you're made of!

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

Christmas tree

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
