Over the course of the spring and summer, my music taste has very much evolved. Originally, my two main sources for music were the radio and whatever music my boyfriend at the time had decided was good to listen to -- and I absolutely hated that. Sure, there are good mainstream songs, but I knew there was more to the world of music than the new Rihanna hit on the radio, and I was desperately searching for a way to discover new music.

So, why The 1975? How did they become one of my favorite bands? One word: Spotify. Like any mainstream music listener, when I first got a Spotify account this summer, the only The 1975 song that I had ever heard was "Chocolate," which is still one of my favorite songs by this band to this day, but I think more for the sentimental value it holds for me. Additionally, it's an upbeat, cheery song overall, which is the sound I tend to gravitate towards when flipping through stations. Here's a list of my chipper favorites from the band.

1. Chocolate

Even if you know absolutely nothing about The 1975, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve probably heard this song before. It gained significant airplay last year on a variety of radio stations across the nation.

2. UGH!

This is by far my favorite song on their newest album. To me, it’s a new and improved “Chocolate."

3. Robbers

This song is slower than my typical playlist would usually include, but I couldn't leave it out - the combination of the melody and the lyrics made it one of my absolute favorites.

4. This Must Be My Dream

This one is for anyone who's ever gone through a messy breakup. “Well, I thought it was love, but I guess I must be dreaming.”

5. Sex

Over the summer, I had the opportunity to see The 1975 in concert in Milwaukee. Prior to this concert, this specific song of theirs had been stuck in my head all day. It’s got a catchy beat, and at the time, it constantly made me laugh given how many times the song cheekily says, “She’s got a boyfriend, anyway.”

6. Heart Out

Next time I'm in a tiff with my nonexistent boo, you can bet your butt I'll randomly burst into song with these lyrics: “You got something to say? Why don’t you say it out loud, instead of living in your head?”

7. Paris

I must admit, when I first started listening to The 1975, I rarely listened to this song. However, on a lazy summer day where I had some time to listen to the whole album in hopes of discovering some new favorites, I found this gem. Since that day, this song is stuck in my head probably about once a week, if not more.

8. Love Me

“You look famous. Let's be friends.”

9. A Change of Heart

To me, this is somewhat of a mix of a slower song and a more upbeat song. One of my favorite parts of The 1975’s catalog is the fact that most, if not all, of the songs, are totally understandable and applicable to my life, and this song is a prime example of that relatability.

10. Somebody Else

I initially skipped over this one due to its slow beginning when I was a rookie listener. After giving it a second chance, I discovered that it had a slow beat that gradually picks up speed as the song progresses, which is perfect music for when I just want to chill out.

On that note, give these guys a quick second. What’s the worst that can happen? (Hint: there’s a high probability you end up loving them just as much as I do in the end).

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
