10 Songs That'll Take You To A Whole New World

Have you ever listened to a song and found yourself lost in its lyrics and rhythms? Here is a list of ten songs that I play when I feel like being brought into another world. So put in your headphones, plug in your twinkly lights, lay down and just listen.

1. "Gooey" by Glass Animals

My favorite lyric: "You just wanna know those peanut butter vibes."

2. "To Build A Home" by The Cinematic Orchestra

My favorite lyric: "By the cracks of the skin I climbed to the top. I climbed the tree to see the world."

3. "Car Radio" by Twenty-One Pilots

My favorite lyric: The whole song is freakin' lyrically beautiful. But if I had to choose: "Faith is to be awake and to be awake is for us to think and for us to think is to be alive and I will try with every rhyme to come across like I am dying to let you know you need to try to think."

4. "Bloodflood pt. II" by alt-J

My favorite lyric: "Silent knife, unholy knife. I've fallen for the black outside my window."

5. "Technicolor Beat" by Oh Wonder

My favorite lyric: "I feel safe in the 5am light."

6. "Blue Spotted Tail" by Fleet Foxes

My favorite lyric: "Why is life made only for to end? Why do I do all this waiting then?"

7. "Broadripple is Burning" by Margot and the Nuclear So & So's

My favorite lyric: "And don't fucking move, 'Cause everything you thought you had will go to shit. We've got a lot. Don't you dare forget that."

Note: I prefer the acoustic version.

8. "Work Song" by Hozier

My favorite lyric: "No grave can hold my body down. I'll crawl home to her"

9. "Youth" by Daughter

My favorite lyric: "And if you're still bleeding, you're the lucky ones. 'Cause most of our feelings, they are dead and they are gone. We're setting fire to our insides for fun. Collecting pictures from a flood that wrecked our home, it was a flood that wrecked this home."

10. "Fall Creek Boys Choir" by James Blake and Bon Iver

My favorite lyric: "Daring on the peak, telling on the teeth. I've been down to the open road. I'll wait for you, you know. And we both end up alone And if only we could have known."

Here's an extra one cause I like you so much...

11. "Warm On A Cold Night" by Honne

My favorite lyric: "And I can’t help but wonder just how we ended up alright. And I love you like no other. And this has never felt so right"

By the way, this is in no particular order. Just enjoy.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
