10 Songs for Every Situation

Music is the one thing that has the ability to conform to our every mood and situation. Whether you’re running errands, in charge of the aux or are getting ready for a night out, music is a constant. What could be better than to have a playlist that could ultimately match your every emotion? Here’s just that. This is a list of a songs fit for every scenario you may encounter in your college career. Get your headphones ready.

Formation by Beyoncé: Getting ready for a ladies night out? Need some inspiration? Is your ego a little shot? Don’t stress, ladies. Beyoncé has you covered and wants you to slay tonight. This song is the anti f-boy anthem and has the ability to make you feel like a strong independent woman. Thanks to the queen herself, we can all feel too fierce to text him back (at least for three minutes and 26 seconds). Go ahead, ladies. Get in formation.

Closer by The Chainsmokers: “Wait - you like this song too?! I had no idea!” Boom. Instant icebreaker. If you’re looking for a song to lip sync to with a room full of strangers, this is your go-to. Do you know all the lyrics? Did you listen to this song on repeat when The Chainsmokers first released it? Do you still listen to it on repeat...? Congratulations. You now have something in common with literally everyone.

I Miss You by Blink-182: This one’s for you, 90s babies. Maybe this one only made the list because I almost cried tears of joy when I got to see Blink-182 perform this song live. Maybe I’m in my feels. Who knows? If you want to vibe to a classic 90s song through, this is the one.

Kiss Me Through the Phone by Solja Boy: 678-999-8212. That is all.

Deep Down Low by Valentino Khan: Missing EDC? Dreaming of EDC? Play this loud enough in your room, add some LED lights, throw on a bandana and hey - it’s almost like you’re actually there. On a serious note though, I don’t think there’s another song that can get a room as hyped as this one. Way to go, Valentino Khan. You did it.

Drake (literally any song): If for some sad and unfortunate reason you start to miss your ex, Drake can help you. By “help you,” I mean ruin your night, your emotional stability and your will to move on. PSA: avoid this mood (but if you can’t, Drake is your boy).

No Hands by Waka Flocka Flame: If someone hands you the aux and you freeze, play this. I don’t know how or why, but this has been a banger for years now and it's still going strong. Anyone who knows me well knows that I have been listening to this song almost everyday since 2010. Talk about commitment. Hell, if I ever become a mom and find myself taking the kids to soccer practice on the weekend, this will be bumping in my safe and fuel efficient Honda. Like I said…banger.

I Love College by Asher Roth: Okay, so this song gets kind of old...but you learn a lot of great life lessons in this one. “Don’t pass out with your shoes on.” Wow, great! Yes! College is full of deep and valuable lessons. Thank you, Asher.

Santeria by Sublime: You can’t be in your own personal paradise without having the right music to accompany you. Sippin’ on something strong? Relaxing on a beach? Doing both (or wish you were)? Here, this will help set the tone.

Swing by Savage: If you want to see a shy and quiet girl get rowdy on the dance floor, Savage will have you covered. I’m not sure if it’s because of the popularity of the song or his voice itself, but this song is a game changer.

Happy listening, folks.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
