10 Songs You Should Add To The Soundtrack Of Life In Your Head

We frequently think up the perfect song to go along with a situation we bear witness to and begin to wonder, "Why can't I pitch a film score to Hollywood?" That's how it works, right? Hey, I may never be Hans Zimmer but a girl can dream. Here's a short list of some of my favorite song-situation couples:

1. "Stomp" by Kirk Franklin. This throwback would be the perfect song for if you ever get to lay down a major ass whooping. Granted in real life you are more likely to fall on the receiving end of this situation, I dare you to look at another fight scene live or on screen and not play this in your head! When that call and response hits towards the end of the song, you'll be yelling out "Stomp!"

2. "Chacha" by DRAM. Allegedly Drake stole this beat for his hit song 'Hotline Bling'. Well, in my opinion, the original's better. I can't listen to it without feeling all bubbly and happy inside. Because it has a high memorability value, you can pull it out from the recesses of your mind and listen to that instead of that professor's two-hour lecture. Be prepared though for when they ask "what they I do differently today" because you seemed so attentive and excited. It definitely makes you want to chacha...with a Dominican...that resembles Taina.

Sidenote: Drake's new release "One Dance" is absolute fire. Same effect as DRAM's Chacha in that it will make you want to hit the dance floor although its mellow Afro-beat influenced House production is better suited for ushering people out with a final dance after a hard night's club-hopping. Drake better lawyer up because I have half a mind to file a lawsuit against him for false advertising. "One Dance" will keep you on your feet yelling "Encore!"

3. Disney's Beauty and the Beast "Tale as Old As Time" Piano cover. Preferably heard drifting faintly into your dorm room as you lay on your bed watching movies. This will whip up your childhood nostalgia in no time.

4."Where Have You Been" by Rihanna. When your dry spell is finally shattered by "The One"...numero cinco.

5."It's All Coming Back To Me" Celine Dion. While we're on the subject of relationships, this is the perfect song for when you're reminiscing over your ex. Why did we break up again? Come back, wah!

6."What Do You Mean?" Justin Bieber. Like, what am I supposed to do when you text me things like "Till when do u gonna be here?"...Huh?

7."Apocalypse Dreams" Tame Impala. That riff from 4:08 onward would make the perfect outro to my sold out concert. Hey, we all want to be a rock star!

8."Digits" by Young Thug. I don't know nor do I care what he says in the rest of the song. I live for the first four bars of that chorus. Makes you want to get up and do things you were to scared to do before because "why not risk life when it's gon' keep goin'?"

9 "The Circle of Life" Disney's Lion King opening credits scene. When you wake up early on a weekend and you open your curtains and that sun hits you just so. *Sigh*

10."Bittersweet Symphony" The Verve. This song was made for walking while in deep thought. Careful because your facial expression settles on resting bitch face when you get really into it . I've been accused of that several times and it was probably while playing this in my head.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
