10 Song Lyrics To Help You Through A Hard Day

Sometimes we have those bad days where we get sad and don't really feel like doing anything. These days are the ones where you need to take a step back, get comfortable and put on some music to help you feel better. Music is the best cure to sadness especially when you can connect to the lyrics. Here are a few lyrics to remember incase you're having one of those bad days.

1. "Life's too short to even care at all oh." - Young the Giant

All the worries that you have right now, won't matter a few years from now. Stop wasting your time on things and people who don't matter and just live in the moment for you.

2. "Hold on tight, this ride is a wild one." - All Time Low

Every day you will have your ups and downs but that's the thing about life; it's one big crazy adventure.

3. "Cause I've got you to make me feel stronger, when the days are rough and an hour seems much longer." - McFly

If you feel more alone than you usually do on your bad days, just know that you have somebody on your side who is going to be there for you always, even if you don't know it.

4. "I make my own choice, yeah I run this show." - Demi Lovato

You are the writer of your own story. Don't let anybody tell you to do something that you don't want to do. You make your choices.

5. "I might only have one match, but I can make an explosion." - Rachel Platten

Don't worry about what you don't have to make your dreams come true because what you do have will be enough.

6. "I'm free to be the greatest." - Sia

You can be whatever you choose to be. Whatever you choose, you will be great and don't ever doubt that.

7. "We're misfits, rebels, we're creeps and freaks." - Against the Current

If you're sad because somebody labeled you as something you didn't like then don't worry about them because labels don't matter. Everybody is labeled as something and it's how you choose to embrace who you are that matters.

8. "Stop covering your eyes, wasting precious time on yesterdays." - Yellowcard

Thinking about the past can set us back. Instead of concentrating on the present we choose to think about everything that has happened before then. Letting the past consume you will make you get stuck at the point that you're at. Leave the past in the past and remember that each day is a new day for you to do something.

9. "Stay strong, keep moving, can't let the darkness blind us." - Our Last Night

Don't stop moving forward. Keep on swimming.

10. "I absolutely love her, when she smiles." - Nine Days

No matter how bad of a day you are having and no matter what you are going through, always keep your head up and smile. To be able to smile is a beautiful thing.

A Few Thoughts Every College Freshman Has

The transition into adulthood is never easy

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
