One of the things that I look forward to most during the summer is the opportunity to read whatever books I want. No more required reading from school or reading textbooks, but instead reading any book that I choose.

These are 10 novels that I have read previously that make perfect summer must-reads. Just make sure you have some tissues nearby in case you cry. I can testify myself that some of my book pages are crinkled from my tears. Regardless I highly recommend every one of these books.

Who said you can't use a good cry every now and then?

1. "Me Before You"

I just finished this novel this week and so it is my first recommendation. I'm sure many of you have seen the movie with the handsome Sam Claflin, but trust me, no movie ever compares to the book.

2. "My Sister's Keeper"

I know this one might be old for some of you but it is a classic that everyone should read. Jodi Picoult always has some sort of twist in her plot and I promise it is not just a cancer story to those of you who haven't heard of it.

3. "The Help"

Another classic. This time though I can argue that the movie is almost as good as the book, for those of you who want to cheat and watch the movie instead. Either way, make sure you experience it.

4. "Marley & Me"

Alright, who doesn't love a novel about a cute pup like Marley? I remember reading this book for the first time at the beach and had to hide until my towel so my family didn't see my crying. BEWARE!

5. "The Notebook"

So I'm sure everyone has seen the Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams version of "The Notebook," but why not cry again and read the book? Tears are sure to come. For that matter just read any Nicholas Sparks novel and it should do the trick.

6. "The Fault in Our Stars"

This is another book that I read on the beach while shielding myself from others because of the tears streaming down my face. Don't let me discourage you from reading it though. It is an incredible novel that deserves to be read.

7. "Thirteen Reasons Why"

Now before you go getting any opinions about this, I want to remind you all that the book came out in 2007. This is nearly 10 years ago and now this past year Netflix has decided to release an entire series about it. Whatever your opinion on the series may be (I personally did not like it) I still suggest you read the book to see the difference between the two.

8. "Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows"

I know this isn't your typical emotional love story; however, for any true Harry Potter fans that have read the entire series, I know you all can admit that you shed a tear or more on the final book. This book ended an era and I can only thank J.K. Rowling for creating a series that I grew up reading.

9. "Sarah's Key"

It is hard to not get emotional at novels based on events from the Holocaust. The novel itself begins sad and unfortunately cannot get much happier based on the topic, however, it is a must read.

10. "The Art of Racing in the Rain"

This is another dog book that is bound to end in tears. But unlike "Marley & Me," this book is told through the dog's eyes, different from almost every other dog book so read it!

The 5 Painfully True Stages Of Camping Out At The Library

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

As this semester wraps up, students can’t help but be stressed about finals. After all, our GPAs depends on these grades! What student isn’t worrying about their finals right now? It’s “goodbye social life, hello library” time from now until the end of finals week.
