Ola is a dazzling little town just outside of McDonough, Georgia. If you went to Ola Middle or High School or even just have family there, you know that there are certain characteristics that make Ola unique (both good and bad). All of us who grew up in Ola swore we hated it and we would move away as soon as we could, but at the end of the day, friendships and memories were made in Ola that will never be replaced. For all of you fellow Ola-ians, you know the following to be true:
1. You remember the excitement among everyone you knew when Berry Mango's opened.
Finally, something to do.
2. If you wanted to go to the mall, you had to drive up the interstate to the Mt. Zion exit to arrive at good ol' South Lake.
Unless, of course, you count Tanger as a mall.
3. You remember the coveted summer when Ola got both a Dunkin Donuts AND a Chick-fil-A.
NO MORE MCDONALD'S/ZAXBY'S!!!!
4. When you're out of state and people ask where you're from, you respond with "just south of Atlanta."
No freakin' way they're going to know where McDonough is, much less Ola.
5. "Oh, you go to Union Grove...."
Union Grove people will always be the worst.
6. Your classmates were either rednecks, on drugs, or they had money.
There is no in between (or at least it didn't seem like it).
7. You will always remember, "Make it a great day or not, the choice is yours."
8. If you need groceries, you can either stop by the Dollar General or you have to drive a little ways Publix.
No Walmarts here, people.
9. If you want something to do but you don't want to drive, tough luck.
Unless walking around Heritage Park is your idea of fun.
10. When you tell people you went to Ola, they respond with "Ola? Like Spanish for hello? Oh that's neat."
Nope, not really that neat.
