10 Signs You Went To Mepham High School In Bellmore, New York

I am one of the many alumni who will tell you that Mepham was the best high school in the world. I was a cheerleader, lacrosse player, runner, and in too many clubs to name. Mepham gave me the education I needed, the friends I love, and the best experience that anyone could hope to get out of high school. Even though I love college and would definitely not want to be anywhere else right now, it doesn't change the fact that Mepham was definitely an amazing place that helped me grow so much as a person. So whether you're still in Mepham or you graduated a while ago, here are some things that we all have in common:

1. You know to make friends with the security guards so they can let you go out to lunch as a freshman or do whatever you want in the hallways.

2. No underclassman better even consider sitting on the senior ledge, or else.

3. There is nothing worse than gym class in Mepham. No matter what, every year you're screwed.

4. As a senior, your only worries are graduating and getting to college, finding a way to get to Senior Sleepout without your parents knowing, and prom.

5. The NYS Regents Exams will always be a waste of time, but you got a newfound appreciation for them once Common Core Tests became a thing.

6. Nothing is more fun than going to the football games, even though you're most likely going just to watch the Bleacher Creatures annoy the refs and opposing players from the stands.

7. Once senior year rolls around, nobody really cares anymore and the grade just becomes really close for the most part, which was probably my favorite part of high school.

8. There's always one hallway where you're forced to pass your least favorite couple sucking face on someone else's locker every day.

9. You always get annoyed when people from other schools ask about the millions of scandals we've had here.

10. As a senior, you're practically doomed if you get to school late because then you're forced to park on Stewart and GOD KNOWS the cops are going to find some type of problem and you'll end up with a $100 ticket.

All jokes aside, Mepham really was an awesome place and I wouldn't want to have gone to high school anywhere else. I hope everyone gets the same happiness that I got out of my high school experience and the amazing community we live in. Sorry I'm probably the only person that actually still likes Bellmore... Go pirates!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
