10 Signs You Miss Bridgewater College

Summer -- the time of year that every student loves. Especially in college, we get a three month reprieve from test anxiety, late nights, and piles of work. Halfway through the year, students are dreaming about summer and the escape from school. But, as summer comes closer, students seem to want it a little less. And once we're actually away from school, well, summer just doesn't seem to be everything that it's made out to be. Even though we're only halfway through the summer, there are a few tell-tale signs that you miss Bridgewater College.

1. You're bored -- and the thought of those all-nighters doesn't seem too bad.

Sure, summer is great, but it gets a little boring. Even though we had great plans, sometimes they don't always work out. And maybe we were being a little over-dramatic about how awful the work load was... it would be nice to have something to do .

2. You'd rather be at Bridgewater than working your summer job.

No one likes to work. But as poor college kids, we all need the summer to make some extra money. As the summer goes on, you may start to think that being at school would be way more fun than your job, and being at school seems even more important than money.

3. You look at the food on your plate, and wonder what the KCC would be serving.

Would it be the KCC bowl, Mongolian Grill, or the infamous Ice Cream Bar? Now, you wouldn't go so far to say you miss the food that place puts out, but you do miss the good times you had and the hours you wasted in there, and you can't wait for more.

4.Your room at home seems a little empty.

Living with a roommate can have it's ups and downs, depending on your opinion. But as the summer goes on, you can't help but miss your roommates, and you notice that it's just not the same living without them.

5. You pass a chicken truck or a cow farm on the highway, and it makes you think of home.

Not your summer home, but your Bridgewater home. The sight of giant trucks carrying hundreds of chickens doesn't freak you out anymore, and the smell of farms gross you out; it just makes you think of being back on campus.

6. You're tired of people not holding doors.

If there's one thing we can't complain about, it's how nice everyone is at Bridgewater. We say hi, smile at strangers, and hold doors no matter what. In the outside world, it's just not the same. You begin to get tired of it after doors keep closing on your face, and you can't help but think that someone at BC would have held that door for you.

7. You realize you can't walk across the street to see your friends... And you hate it.

Bridgewater is notorious for being absolutely tiny. We don't have to walk far to get anywhere. We're used to being able to walk across the street to see our friends. But during the summer, we're so spread out it's impossible. You just can't wait to see that tiny campus again.

8. You feel bad when your parents ask if you miss school.

You feel bad because you don't want to be too honest. You have to carefully tell them that you miss your friends, and not let on that being at home is driving you absolutely nuts. You miss your friends, and you even miss all of the work. You just can't wait to get back to Bridgewater, but you don't want to let on too much.

9. You catch yourself telling yet another story about Bridgewater, and suddenly you're on Memory Lane.

Some of your best memories come from school, and you can't help but tell the stories. You talk about your favorite professor, best weekend, or worst week of your life, that one time you dropped a tray full of plates in the KCC, or when you got nailed with a snowball during a snowball fight. You could spend hours talking about all of the amazing people you've met, and you can't help but think about everything that has happened at Bridgewater. Suddenly, you just can't wait to get back and make even more memories.

10. You just realized we still have two more months of summer, and you groaned a little.

Nothing is perfect, especially not Bridgewater college. But for some reason you just can't wait to get back, see your friends, meet new people, and overcome more challenges. Stay strong, fellow Eagles. Only two more months.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
