From one local to another, happy summer! If you're a beach townie, you know this list like the back of your sun-kissed hand

1. When you're bored, you gravitate towards the water, no matter the season.

Whether it's a beautiful summer day or the middle of winter, you always know a trip to the beach can fix any problem. So, when in doubt, go for a walk on the sand or a drive by the seawall and take it all in.

2. You are fully prepared for the yearly influx of tourists.

Your town probably seems pretty dead in the off-season, but when the warm weather hits, there's more people than ever. In a way, you enjoy all of the hustle and bustle of your usually boring town, but at the same time, you secretly hate every person that's not a local.

3. The amount of out-of-state drivers never ceases to annoy you.

There is no such rage as the feeling you get when a tourist cuts you off on the road. Have you never seen a yeild sign? Do you not understand that I have the right of way? And let's not forget about the insane amounts of traffic all the time, especially when you're late for work.

4. Your town becomes so much more lively when the weather warms up.

You often forget that people actually come to your town on vacation. It's kind of cool to think that you basically live in paradise. Not to mention, if you work near the beach, the tips are unreal, thanks rich tourists.

5. There is sand in every crevice of your life, from your car to your bed.

Honesty, there's no way of getting around it, so don't even bother. Seriously, you will still be finding sand in weird places in the middle of December.

6. You always carry around a spare bathing suit, just in case.

You have one in your car, your bag, at your friend's house...everywhere. Because why would you risk being without a bathing suit when all of your friends make last minute plans to do the only thing there is to do?

7. You'd rather have a picnic in the sand than sit down at a fancy restaurant any day of the week.

Since you only really get to enjoy the weather for a couple months out of the year, you're always down to take advantage of your scenery, especially when there's food involved. And let's be honest, beach people are low maintenance people.

8. You could watch the sunset over the water a million times and never get tired of it.

There's just nothing like it.

9. You're outwardly shocked when people who live inland tell you they have to drive an hour to get to the closest beach.

Wait, so you're saying you actually have to plan a day in advance and drive an hour to the nearest beach? That's honestly crazy, especially since you can wake up and drive five minutes down the road and enjoy a perfect beach day. (Prayers for those less fortunate)

10. You couldn't imagine living anywhere else.

Once you get a chance to live by the ocean, there is absolutely no going back. So, here's to all of the beach people out there: enjoy nice weather and try not to lose your temper on too many out-of-state drivers this summer.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
