10 Signs You Grew Up In A Youth Group

After moving away to college I can't wait to go home for the holidays because I get to go back to my home church and of course my youth group. There are always those signs that you are a part of a close youth group that you just can't avoid.

1) You Know Every Song

2) Never Free on Sundays or Wednesdays

3) You Welcome/Warn The New People

My first reaction is to hug and welcome new people to our Youth Group and then I want to warn them about how weird and crazy we are but don't want to scare them off.

4) That Face You Make When They Start Talking About Church Camp

5) Weird Food Contest

Yes.. I have eaten frozen mayo, a blended McDonald's happy meal, pickled eggs, and every other gross thing possible. All for Jesus.

6) "Remember At Camp When..."

We spend less than a week at church camp and then 51 weeks after that talking about all the crazy stuff that happened there.

7) Everyone Dates Everyone

Whether you marry then person or not, you will eventually date someone in your group.

8) No Such Thing As An Introvert

I believe in a good balance in introverts and extroverts but all that end when you walk into the youth building.

9) We ALWAYS Get Food After Youth Group

My youth group has gone to Taco Bell every Wednesday for 7 years. When I says always, I mean always.

10) It's Like We Have Assigned Seats

For worship or the sermon, we all have out spot and if someone sits there we will be unfocused to the whole time.

11) Always Laugh at the Youth Pastors Jokes

No matter how many times he has told it or how unfunny it is thou shall always laugh at the youth pastors jokes.

(Shout out to my awesome youth pastor Tres Major in this picture)

12) You Are Volunteers For Everything

Of course I would love to be there at 7 AM do se

13) It Becomes Your Second Home

Walking through the doors of my youth group is like being home. Seeing my second family and always being welcomed with open

14) You Make Life Long Friends

My friends truly live out that church is not the building but the people. My youth group is full of my best-friends, the people who I can always lean on, and ofcourse my future wedding party! The people you meet in your church will be your family forever.

15) Leaving For College Is The Hardest Thing You Will Ever Do

Going from never missing a youth service to only going twice a year is a hard thing to get use to. No matter how old you get or how far away you move, Yourh Group will always be your home.

I am forever grateful for my Youth Group and the people who help me grow in my faith with everything we do.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Syllabus Week As Told By Kourtney Kardashian

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
