10 Signs You Grew Up In The Country
Telegraph

You probably passed several corn fields on the way to school, and you practically knew everyone in your class. If this applies to you, then you most likely grew up in the country and can relate to most of these situations.

1. You tell people the nearest city to you when they ask where you’re from.

When people ask where you’re from, you tell them the nearest metropolitan city to you. Most people have never heard of your town and you’re normally met with a confused look.

2. Traffic is non-existent.

It’s a good and bad thing. You’re free to drive wherever you want in a short amount of time with no hassle, but it hasn’t prepared you for driving with a lot of traffic in a city. In the country, you shouldn’t be fazed if you end up getting behind a tractor or horse and buggy, or have to wait for a train to pass at the rail road tracks. Traffic is something no one will ever understand.

3. You see wildlife wherever you go.

Come on, it’s the country. If you don’t see any wildlife then you’re in the wrong place. Seeing a deer, ground hog, or anything really is common nature. Its home to farms and wildlife in the woods. Most is alive, some is dead on the side of the road. That is just the territory of living in the country.

4. Weekends are spent at bonfires.

It’s hard to come up with things to do with your friends when there is nothing to do in your town. With not much to do, you get creative in the ideas you come up with. Bonfires became a way to socialize and do something fun with your friends at night.

5. Football is everything.

Football isn’t just a game it’s a way of life for some people. The whole community revolves around it. Friday nights are game nights with everyone attending and feeling the anticipation of the outcome. Its more serious then college ball in some towns.

6. You still talk to the people from kindergarten.

Even though it’s been many years, you’re still acquainted with the people you first started school with. Kindergarten was one of the happiest times of your life because you were beginning the journey of school, and these were the pears you began it with. So there is a special bond that you will always have with them.

7. Everyone knows everything about you.

Being in the middle of nowhere where there’s not many people, everybody knows everything about you when it comes to gossip. A secret isn’t a secret for long. You’ve known most of these people your whole life. So there is bound to be something you know about each person.

8. There’s one diner that everyone goes to.

There’s that one place in town that everyone eats at because it’s cheap and everyone knows about it. It’s the place to hang out before football games and a place to get ice cream on the weekends. Its got the best food because it’s the only place you ever eat.

9. You make your own fun.

When there is not much to do in your town, you come up with your own interesting ideas of fun. Whether it walking around at the lake or exploring Walmart or Target at midnight, doing it with your friends make it all fun. As long as you’re having fun with your friends, it makes everything better.

10. You would never live anywhere else.

Despite being small and in the middle of nowhere the country has a lot to offer when it comes to living there. Whether it’s the people, food, your friends, or lack of traffic, you would never choose to live anywhere else. You grew up here, and it will always be a part of you no matter what.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
