Macon County, Tennessee is basically in the middle of nowhere. It's 40 minutes from a mall or even a Cracker Barrel. There is farmland everywhere you look. What is there to do in this small town? How do you have fun? Well, in my 20 years of living in Macon County, I've somehow always found something to do. Here's a few things you'll recognize, if you grew up in Macon County, Tennessee.
1. Driving around the town square and Sonic every single Friday night.
You've heard the phrase, "Wanna meet up in town and ride around in an hour?", way too many times in your life. But hey, riding around in circles with your BFFs is still pretty fun.
2. Parking at Piggly Wiggly after you wasted too much gas driving around the town square and Sonic.

3. Being at every home football game.
Football is a way of life in the south. And in Macon County, it's even more important. Whether you graduated in 1989 or in 2014, you'll still be at every home game, cheering your heart out for those Tigers.
4. Attending the Macon County Fair.
When the fair is in town, there is actually something to do. The fair was probably the highlight of your summer every year.
5. Eating at La Tia at least three times a week.

6. Passing a church on almost every road.
Religion is the only thing we take more serious than football in Macon County. You never get tired of driving past a church every three seconds.
7. Taking school field trips to Lafayette Cinema.
Getting to watch a movie in this cute, little theater never got old. You probably ate two tubs of the best popcorn in the world. And, if you were lucky enough, you may have even got to work there for a few years, like me.
8. Going on your first date at the Drive In.

9. Crying after graduating from Macon County High School because it was the best four years of your life.

10. Knowing Macon County will always be home, no matter where you end up.

So, Macon County may not offer all the latest shops and restaurants, but it does offer the greatest people in the world. The sense of community that is shared throughout Macon County is such a wonderful thing. I'm so thankful to be a part of the greatest town on earth.
