Mom's are meant to be protective, supportive, helpful and responsible for anything that you do. Being away at college means that you don't have your mom to help you through anything and be responsible for you when things get rough. In every friend group, someone is considered to be "mom". Being "mom" for your friends means that you take on a whole new role in your friend group. Mom's are by blood and friendship not just by blood. If you are the mom in your friend group, it is very likely that you have said or done these things that make you seem more like mom.
1. You have brought food to your friends.
No matter what time of day, your friends know that you always have the good food out of all your friends and they always ask you to bring them food while studying in the library.
2. Your friends come to you to fix their sick symptoms.
Your friends will ask you what do you think is wrong with them even when they have a little cough. Then they will ask how to fix the problem and the next thing you know, your medicine drawer is empty.
3. Your friends come to you and tell you what's wrong.
Your friends will come to you for almost everything that is bothering them. Failed a test, they come to you. Boy trouble, they come to you. Missing home, they come to you. They come to you for everything because they know that you are such a good listener and you have some wise advice about the situation.
4. You have asked how practice or classes went.
You always try to encourage your friends that just because practice or classes were tough today, that they will be better in the future and everything will work out.
5. You help them with homework or be a study buddy.
Your friends come to you for help on homework that they know that you didn't struggle with or any homework that pertains to your major.
6. You have reminded your friends to wear a coat.
With the weather getting colder, you have to remind your friends to wear warm clothes and dress for weather. Sometimes they might fight you because they don't wanna make their outfit ugly, but then realize how cold it actually is outside.
7. Your friends have asked you to sew for them.
When a button falls off a shirt or pants need to be hemmed, your friends ask you to fix it because they know that you have a needle and thread in your drawer for emergencies.
8. You have asked what time they went to bed a night before a test.
Usually when you ask this question, the answer is "I don't know, I had to study all night for my test today." Or they will answer with a laugh because they know that they shouldn't have crammed for a test the night before.
9. You have let your friends sleep in your bed.
Odds are that you have given your bed up on several occasions. Naps during the day, when a friend is too drunk to make it to their own bed, or when a friend hears noises in their room so they are scared.
10. You remind them not to touch anything expensive in stores.
When you guys are at any store, you have to remind them not to touch anything because we all are broke college students and we don't have the money to replace anything that breaks.
Being the mom in your friend group is not a bad thing at all, most of the time it has it perks and it makes you and your friends feel safer about being at college away from your real mom.
