Some things just never change over time.

10 Signs You Are Newly 21

When the big twenty-one comes along, some of us didn't really know what to make of it. You party a little here and there in college but are you ready to hang with the "Big Boys" now? Here are 10 signs you are a newly 21-year-old.

1. You try to walk into a bar and they laugh thinking "this has got to be a joke" because you look 16.

Too many people take one glance at me and assume I'm basically a child. As long as this pays off when I'm 40-50 years old, I'm okay with this.

2. You finally get into said bar and sit down but realize you don't know what to drink.

So you panic and end up ordering a cheap beer because you are also broke.

3. Your pool skills absolutely suck.

You have never found a need to explore this side of you that involves a stick, some blue chalk, a cue ball and an 8 ball that can make you lose it all.

4. Things you talk about in the bar make the people around you give you weird looks because it's not what you'd normally talk about in a bar.

It's not acceptable to talk about certain things at bars but you'll understand the memo pretty quickly.

5. The majority of your friends are younger and so you go to these places with your parents.

I thankfully had my first bar experience with my best friend.... and my parents.

6. When you go with your parents and they drink enough, you hear stories you really didn't need or want to hear.

I don't need to hear about the big hair and the drunk cats lapping up beer that was on the floor from the kegger you threw when you were my age.

7. You realize then, that you should not have gotten your tolerance high because now you have to take care of your friends and family because they don't have a high tolerance.

This happens to everyone including myself. Make a note, a low tolerance also equals less money you need to spend.

8. Your friends who are older than 21 attempt to "show you the ropes"

You think you got this, and then they come along and really just mess with you.

9. You feel really out of place at a bar or pub.

After 18+ clubs being your hangout spot downtown, a bar is an extremely different change in scenery.

10. When you finally get the hang of it, you become the friend from number 8.

You'll try to deny it, but it happens to the best of us. You'll get through it

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
