Woburn is a small city in Massachusetts. It's a subrub of Boston, located just north of this famous city. It’s a place where everyone seemingly knows everyone and their business. Woburnites are known for their intense "tanner pride" and so many other things. Here a few signs you're from Woburn:

1. You think Flag Day is a real holiday.

In other cities or towns people think of Flag Day as just another day, but not in Woburn. For whatever reason, Woburn teenagers find Flag Day as a great excuse to go crazy and let loose across the street from the police station while a small carnival goes on in the background for families.

2. You say “Hon Pon” not “Horn Pond.”

You know someone isn’t from Woburn when they pronounce one of our favorite little places by it’s actual name. If you’re from Woburn you know better than to pronounce that “R” or “D.”

3. You know Who Rocky Nelson is.

I call him Mr. Nelson, but Mr. Woburn would also fit. If you’re from this little city you’ve seen him around and heard of him for sure. You may know him as, Head Varsity Football coach, father of Courtney Sigsbury who is the Head Varsity Softball coach, or a regular at many local restaurants.

4. You understand the chaos of a “Saturday Morning at the Joyce.”

Nothing makes you dread Saturday morning more than knowing you have to go to the Joyce in the morning. Whether you’re there for a soccer game or hockey practice, odds are you won't be able to find parking when you get there, and when you do find a parking spot, it’s probably nowhere near the place you need to be in this complex.

5. You’ve been to Rag Rock.

You may have gone to watch a sunset, walk your dog, watch those Flag Day fireworks, or participate in some vice. No matter why you went, I’m sure if you live in Woburn this place is familiar to you.

6. You bleed black and orange.

Everyone in this town says we “bleed black and orange.” This is because this little city has an insane amount of pride! Whether we’re “packing the Ned” for a hockey game, or taking part of the lighting on the common, we’re proud to be from this place.

7. You know who Joe Brown is.

Not only do you know who Joe Brown is, you love him. You know an event is big when Joe Brown shows up with his camera to snap some pictures. You probably even talk to him at these events and ask him to take your picture in hopes it ends up in the newspaper.

8. When someone says they went to “The Restaurant” you understand.

Most out-of-towners will look at you funny if you say you ate at “The Restaurant.” A true Woburnite will not only understand you, but also envy you. This beloved restaurant that is literally named “The Restaurant” is notorious for it’s amazing all day breakfast, great salads and huge portions.

9. You’ve been to Baystate T-shirt.

You have definitely been to Baystate, and you most likely own a thing or two from there. This hole in the wall shop is where you find the best “Woburn Tanner” apparel and for extremely reasonable prices.

10. Bill and Bob’s is one of your favorite places.

You love Bill and Bobs, not just for their milkshakes and food, but going there to hang out. Chances are, if you’re from Woburn, you’ve spent a night with your friends hanging out in the Bill and Bobs parking lot.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
